Party City Harley Quinn Halloween Costumes Are In High Demand
Party City reports the Harley Quinn costume is a super highly chosen costume among girls and women this year. The buzz surrounding the movie Suicide Squad and its crazy characters, Harley Quinn and her puddin’ the Joker, makes the crazy duo one of 2016’s most popular Halloween costumes. Just count on seeing tons of people dressing up as this Suicide Squad diva. “Superhero” and “Pirate” costumes follow close behind.
Many Twitter users were disappointed to learn the Harley Quinn costume was out of stock at their local Party City. Party City is one of the largest party goods sellers in the United States and Canada, operating over 900 company-owned franchise outlets under Party City, Halloween City, and more. A Harley Quinn Halloween costume is also fairly easy to put together, provided you have red and blue hair dye, and a baseball bat. There are tons of tutorials on YouTube on how to achieve the ultimate Harley Quinn Halloween costume makeup.
Zoher Karu, eBay’s VP and chief data officer, said the website’s top searched costumes are related to franchises and movies, according to NBC News. Harley Quinn is the number one trending costume nationally. She is a top choice everywhere from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Honolulu, Hawaii.
“This year compared to last year, the [top-searched] costumes is much more specific to franchises… Last year we saw costumes such as Minnie Mouse and French Maid, while this year we’re seeing more Pokemon Go, Harley Quinn, and Deadpool [characters].”

The company is also looking for success this Halloween season with Dory and Nemo from Finding Dory, Disney’s Princess Elena, and classic Pokemon characters.
“Her choker necklace and edgy style are an eccentric play on the grunge look of the 90s, which is really popular this season. Also, cosplay is huge on Polyvore, so Harley Quinn hits on many popular search trends on the site right now.”
Emoji Halloween Costume
The emoji Halloween costume will be easily recognized by many. Creative DIYers don’t have to stop at the “Smiley face emoji” costume. Many toss on a red dress to transform into the “Dancing emoji girl” or throw on a pink long-sleeved shirt and go attend Halloween parties as the “Whatever emoji girl.”

Pinterest researcher Larkin Brown has noticed that instead of DIY costumes, it’s more about current events and what’s popular right now. Pinterest usually caters to the DIY personality but is now seeing trends that slightly differ from eBay and Polyvore. Pinteresters usually want to personalize things that are very current like Snapchat filter costumes, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and David Bowie.
“What we’re seeing with a lot of the trends this year is people looking for ideas that they can personalize and make their own, like witty puns, and pop culture ideas that are very current… Last year, we saw a big focus on throwback ideas, but this year it’s more about ‘right now’ costumes with nods to current events and popular entertainment.”

Party City Donald Trump And Hillary Clinton Halloween Costumes
What would election season be without presidential candidate Halloween costumes? Party City predict presidential election costumes will be major hits as well. Courtland Hickey, general manager of Chicago Costume, said election years are usually good for Halloween sales, but this year’s candidates have driven in great business, according to the Sun Sentinel.
“Trump is the most costume-marketable candidate in history,” Hickey said. “If people were going to imitate Mitt Romney, he didn’t have that much flavor. But there are easily a dozen marketable products for Trump.”
According to Bloomberg, Party City operates 730 retail chains yet 30 percent of its sales come from selling goods to mega stores like Walmart. Party City has also given back to the community in the form of launching a website called PartyCityCares.
“Party City stands out from other chains because, along with the 730 retail stores it operates, it is building up a big wholesale business. The vertically integrated company manufactures its own balloons and other party supplies to stock its own stores, but 30 percent of sales come from selling goods to big-box retailers such as Walmart and Staples.”
Party City has also begun sponsoring classic PBS television shows including Sesame Street.
