‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For Oct. 21, Hawkmoon And Skyburners Annex

Xûr’s return to the Tower in Destiny brings some Exotic items that have not been seen in his inventory in many months. None of these are new to veteran PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners, but are worth taking a peek at for those newer to the franchise.

As a reminder, Exotic Engrams can now decrypt up to 400 Light following the release of the 2.4.1 update earlier this week. Unfortunately, Xûr is selling a Legacy Engram once again with this weekend’s visit. This will only decrypt to 160 Light, so make sure you don’t accidentally purchase it.

Xûr can be found in the very back of the bar located underneath the Future War Cult in the hangar this weekend. It’s a long jog, but easy to find. Just turn left when you enter the hanger, go down the stairs to the left, and then straight back. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map just in case.

Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, October 9. He will be gone as soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

Hawkmoon

Hawkmoon is still a potent Exotic weapon despite the numerous rounds of nerfs to Hand Cannons. “Luck in the Chamber” combined with “Holding Aces” gives the possibility of up to three bullets from a single magazine producing a sizable damage output. This makes the already high impact Hand Cannon particularly useful in Crucible.

Immolation Fists

These Titan Sunbreaker specific gauntlets grant the “Explosive Pyre” perk from the sub-class’ skill tree for free so that enemies explode when killed by the Hammer of Sol. This frees players up to use the “Flameseeker” or “Fleetfire” perks instead. The former turns on tracking for the Hammer of Sol while the latter gives an agility boost for any kills with the Sunbreaker’s fire.

The random perks with the Immolation Fists offered by Xûr include the choice between “Rain Blows” and “Impact Induction” along with “Scout Rifle Loader” and “Shotgun Loader.”

The 88 Intellect pure roll is only six points away from the maximum, which makes this a great roll. It’s also the first time these have appeared in Xûr’s inventory in over nine months. Destiny Titans who have not picked these up before may want to give them a show once again.

Skyburners Annex

Destiny Skyburners Annex Exotic Hunter Helmet (PlayStation, Xbox)

The Skyburners Annex helm helps turn Hunters into everyone’s best friend. The intrinsic “Versatile Shooter” perk generates extra Orbs of Light from Heavy Weapon kills with a chance to receive extra Special Weapon ammo when picking up Orbs. The Nightstalker subclass is already a prolific Orbs of Light generator and there’s a chance to create up to 50 percent more with this helmet on.

The optional perks are “Hands-On” for extra Super energy from melee kills and “Heavy Lifting” for extra Super energy from Heavy Weapon kills. There is also the “Invigoration” perk for bonus melee energy on Orb pickup.

The pure 63 Intellect / 59 Discipline stat roll works well for Hunters focused on Supers and Grenades. Destiny players might want to go for “Inverse Shadow” for the third column, however, on a reroll.

THE STAG

The Stag helmet not only makes your Destiny character look like a creepy deer, it also comes with the “Do or Die” perk to grant faster Super energy recharge when you are the last of your fireteam to be standing and can proc an over shield on respawn. This is probably best used for small team PVP multiplayer game types, such as Elimination and Trials of Osiris, since they allow for situations where you could be the last man standing.

The optional perks on The Stag are a choice between the “Inverse Shadow” for bonus Super energy from minion kills, and “Second Thoughts” for bonus Super energy from Special Weapon kills on minions. There is also “Innervation” in the final column for bonus grenade energy from Orb pickups.

The 63 Discipline / 63 Strength stat split is close to the max for this helmet and it has “Inverse Shadow.” Consider re-rolling to try and get “Better Already” or “Infusion” in the final column along with “Inverse Shadow.
