Teen Bride Courtney Alexis Stodden Called 52-Year-Old Husband ‘Dad’

Courtney Alexis Stodden became a household name in the summer of 2011 when at the age of 16, she married Green Mile actor Doug Hutchison, who is 35 years her senior. The happy couple is in the news once again as they’re being featured in VH1’s Couples Therapy reality show.

The Clicker reports that Stodden and Hutchison sought therapy to resolve issues relating to their age differences that have had a tough effect on their marriage, but some of their problems might be borderline creepy.

“I accidentally call him ‘dad’ — you know, Doug-dad, same thing,” Stodden told E! News, while smiling.

“It is what it is,” added Hutchison, who played sadistic guard Percy Wetmore in The Green Mile. “The thing about us is, we can laugh at ourselves and that was part of what we were trying to convey on our show. … She can call me dad, I can say, ‘I’m raising my wife.’ It’s all in good humor.”

RadarOnline.com reported that the Couples Therapy producers may not share their unique sense of humor. Though Stodden is 18 now, she was 17 during filming. In what may have been a better-safe-than-sorry liability decision, the teenage bride wasn’t allowed to share a room with her husband during filming.

The show also deals with the much older actor Hutchison’s desire to have a child, which Stodden isn’t interested in just yet, saying her career is her baby.

Courtney Alexis Stodden was just 16 when the pair married in Las Vegas, and needed parental consent to be married. Her mother happily signed, and reportedly her family supports the marriage to Doug Hutchison.

The teen bride Stodden is an aspiring actress and singer.
