‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 13: Could DeLuca, Jo, And Alex Be The Next Love Triangle?

Hold on Grey’s Anatomy fans because it seems as though Alex Karev’s DeLuca problems may just be getting started in Season 13. For those of you who have been following the DeLuca and Karev drama in Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy, you know that Karev brutally beat up DeLuca over a misunderstanding. The beating resulted in a world of legal and professional problems for Alex. Unfortunately, this may just be the beginning of DeLuca drama for Alex.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Giacomo Gianniotti (who plays Andrew DeLuca) opened up about a relationship that appears to be developing between DeLuca and Jo (Camilla Luddington). Is Alex Karev going to find himself having to battle DeLuca for his girl?

Following last week’s episode of Season 13, Grey’s Anatomy fans have started talking about whether there was going to be a hot hook-up between DeLuca and Jo as they lean on each other following Alex’s brutal attack on DeLuca in the finale of last season.

During the interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gianniotti claimed that any potential romance between Jo and DeLuca in Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy would be a slow burning flame.

“Andrew feels like an outcast at this point. He’s gone through this really hard thing and doesn’t have anybody to talk to about it, so in Jo he sees an ally, comrade and someone who not only understands where he’s coming from, but was actually there.”

During the interview, Gianniotti acknowledged the deep desires many Grey’s Anatomy fans were starting to have about DeLuca and Jo hooking up before Season 13 came to a close. But, would the desires of the fans come true? Would these two Grey-Sloan Memorial doctors hook up sometime during Season 13? Does Alex Karev have another DeLuca problem on his hands? Is this the start of a new Grey’s Anatomy love triangle in the works?

On Twitter, however, Grey’s Anatomy fans have not had nice things to say about a potential relationship between Jo and DeLuca.

Gianniotti also made it a point to mention that there was a very real chance that Alex Karev would beat up DeLuca a second time if DeLuca and Jo did start hooking up before Season 13 came to a close. Gianniotti pointed out that DeLuca would have to tread lightly when it came to developing a romantic relationship with Jo because chances are pretty good it would just cause more problems with Alex Karev.

The storyline involving DeLuca in Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy has been intense so far. DeLuca ended up being hospitalized after suffering horrific facial injuries after being attacked by Alex. Alex assaulted DeLuca after misreading a situation that took place at Jo’s apartment.

“We don’t get a lot of fighting, so that was a fun part of the finale,” Gianniotti said in reference to the fight between DeLuca and Alex during the Season 12 finale. “I had never worked with such extreme prosthetics before, so that was interesting. I was in the makeup chair at 4 a.m. for three hours and the team was incredible. But I was also happy to have it off when it was done.”

Unfortunately for Grey’s Anatomy fans, there have not been any clear answers regarding whether or not a love triangle between DeLuca, Jo, and Alex is starting to form. Chances, however, are pretty good Alex Karev is not going to approve of any type of relationship Jo and DeLuca are developing, whether it is as friends or something more.
