Nelly Says He Didn’t Know About The Ten Pounds Of Dope, Bags Of Heroin On Tour Bus

Nelly was caught up in an arrest saga near Sierra Blanca, Texas as his tour bus was raided and a very large amount of contraband was seized, and the hip-hop and R&B star has commented on the legal snafu.

As we reported yesterday, Nelly was not arrested but was detained along with six others after everyone on the bus was searched at the border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca. And again, while Nelly was not arrested, several other artists have not been so lucky at the same Texas checkpoint. Singer Fiona Apple was busted there last month, and Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg have also run into trouble in the spot.

Ultimately, Nelly entourage member Brian Keith Jones was arrested after stepping forward and claiming responsibility for the contraband, and Nelly made a statement after the brouhaha, confirming:

“It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning … Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”

TMZ also says that, while initial reports proliferated that Nelly’s bus was busted for heroin, the drug was actually something else:

“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ field tests of the drugs in the baggies confirmed it was heroin — but sources close to Nelly claim it was Molly … aka pure ecstasy.”

Nelly’s arrest comments came this morning, a day after the massive bust.
