Child Found In Attempted Murder-Suicide Has Died In A California Hospital, Days After Separate Murder-Suicide In Phoenix, Arizona

A 7-year-old child found in a Garden Grove home with a dead man has died at a California hospital. On Saturday, police responded to a report of a possible suicide when they noticed the child, ABC 7 reports. A second murder-suicide has also been reported within this past week in Phoenix, Arizona, 12 News revealed.

When police reported to the home, a dead man was located, as well as a child. The child was administered medical aid before being rushed to a medical center. The child was subsequently pronounced dead, but the circumstances leading to their deaths and the causes of death have not yet been released.

OC Register revealed that the girl may have been “killed,” but more details will be released as the investigation continues.

Six days ago, in a separate case, a father murdered his two children, then committed suicide in their Phoenix home. The man, Jared Joseph Arismendez, and his two daughters, ages 4 and 5, were found dead in a neighborhood home near Broadway Road and 91st Avenue. The Phoenix Police Department responded to reports of gunfire last Sunday around 10:00 p.m.

When officers entered the house, they found the man and two young girls, one dead and the other barely hanging on. They rushed the 4-year-old to the hospital but the child later died.

Phoenix Police Department believed that the man attempted to kill both girls, then took his own life.

It had been revealed that Sunday morning, the girls’ mother, Carmen, called the police to do a welfare check on the girls. There were two additional people in the home when the incident occurred.

Furthermore, court records show that Carmen had filed an order of protection against Arismendez during the summer months. Carmen claimed that Arismendez once put her in a choke hold and wouldn’t let her leave his home with her daughters. He also would not allegedly allow her to use her cell phone, and even threatened harm against her if she would leave. He allegedly told Carmen that she couldn’t leave because “he couldn’t live without us.”

Carmen wrote in a document that was included within the order of protection expressing that she feared for her safety.

“I fear for my safety as he has violent tendencies.”

The court documents also reveal that Arismendez would call her and drive by her house many different times, and even demanded she come out of the house to see him.

The family of the two girls has started a GoFundMe account and appreciate all prayers and donations at this time of need. A cousin of the little girls, who started the GoFundMe page, said that Ariah and Audrey lived a life full of happiness.

“They were the happiest little girls I know and so full of life and happiness and adventure. They always had a smile on their faces and were the sweetest, most genuine kids. Audrey had just started kindergarten and Ariah was looking forward to joining her sister in school.”

The family has raised over $20,000 so far with a goal of $25,000.

According to Huffington Post, there are approximately 11 murder-suicides a week in America. Furthermore, over 1,000 people die from murder-suicides. Just over 80 percent of murder-suicides occur in residences, whereas the additional occur in mass shootings.

While gun violence includes more than just murder-suicide victims, it has been in the works to decrease the amount of people who are able to buy guns.

Condolences go out to the friends and family members who were involved in this tragic story. The family member who set up the GoFundMe page said that Audrey and Ariah “always had a smile on their faces.”

“They were victims of a tragic incident and we will miss them so much.”
