‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Why Rick Is To Blame For Season 7 Premiere Deaths

The Walking Dead Season 7 spoilers and rumors have been running wild since the Season 6 finale earlier this year. Fans have been scouring the internet looking to find out what’s next for Rick Grimes and his group of survivors after they encounter Negan and their world is changed forever. However, spoilers have been kept mostly under wraps, but fans are finally going to get their answers on Sunday night during the season premiere.

According to Screen Rant, some fans are going to be completely shocked by what The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere will bring. Of course, viewers know that at least one member of Rick’s group is going to die at the hands of new super villain, Negan. However, what may shock them the most is that Rick is going to be – at least partially – to blame for the character’s death in the premiere. Fans already know that Rick survives the brutal beating thanks to the newly released clip from AMC, but surviving may prove to be extremely hard for Rick after he has a hand in the death of one of his closest friends. During a recent interview, producer Greg Nicotero, revealed why Rick shares the blame for the big premiere death.

“Listen, Rick Grimes thinks he’s got a handle on things. He thinks he knows what’s in store for him out there. He thinks he knows that he can take on anybody that comes in his way. The truth of the matter is he can’t and he doesn’t. The fact that Rick was overly confident because he underestimated the world and the people out there, they pay for it. It’s a really unique opportunity to change the direction of the show because our world just got bigger and that’s something that we talked a lot about last season. How excited we were to be able to open up the world into the Hilltop and the Sanctuary and the Kingdom and get a much larger view of what the universe of The Walking Dead consists of.”

Rick’s world will be shattered after Negan’s murder spree in the Season 7 premiere, and Walking Dead fans will see him go through a very big change during the season. He will be a broken man and at his lowest point. While fans have seen Rick down in the dumps before, this time it will be different. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, actor Ross Marquand, who plays Aaron on the show, recently revealed that Rick’s mental state is going to deteriorate now that the power has shifted and Negan is seemingly holding all the cards.

“Truthfully Negan has a very simple premise that he’s put in front of these people. He says, ‘Give me half of your things or I’ll kill you.’ For some people in the apocalypse or otherwise, namely Rick’s group and Rick specifically, that’s a hard pill to swallow. The idea of giving half of your things to someone who has not earned it and has earned it only through intimidation and fear and other violence and brutality, that’s going to be something that some people have a difficult time grasping and they’re going to have to decide how they’re going to work in this new society.”

Walking Dead fans will likely see Rick blame himself for the death of Negan’s victim, and that will probably have a very profound impact on him as Season 7 goes on. When Rick’s not in full leader mode, things could start to happen that he’s not involved in, which could spell even more trouble for the group at Alexandria as they deal with Negan’s presence in their lives.
