Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Feared Their Kids Would Be Kidnapped Before Divorce

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie feared for their six children’s lives before Jolie’s divorce filing last month.

According to a new interview with the couple’s former bodyguard, Mark Billingham, Pitt and Jolie’s main concern in life was for the safety of their kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and Vivienne and Knox, 8.

Speaking to the UK’s The Sun, Billingham a former SAS officer who worked for Angelina Jolie for about 18 months, claimed he basically “fathered” Jolie’s family.

“The biggest concern for them was the kidnapping of the kids, it’s all about money,” Billingham told the paper, according to a report by Us Weekly on October 17. “[Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt] are very worried about who goes near the children.”

That said, Billingham was quite close to the children of Angelina Jolie, despite having worked for her and her husband for less than two years.

“It was clear from the start we had a great chemistry and [Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie] trusted me with the kids,” he continued. “We got very close, I was living with them all the time. I could take the kids anywhere I wanted to on my own. No one else was allowed to do that.”

Angelina Jolie’s relationship with Pitt began after she adopted her first child, Maddox, from Cambodia, but years later, after they fell in love on the set of 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Pitt adopted Maddox as his own and also became the adoptive father of Pax from Vietnam and Zahara from Ethiopia. Angelina Jolie also gave birth to three biological children with Pitt: Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.

Although Billingham claims he was quite trusted by the celebrity couple, he was not allowed to bring any other people around their children. As he recalled, other staffers could look after Angelina Jolie’s kids from a distance, but they were not allowed to have any physical contact with the children.

“I took them swimming. I fathered them, basically,” he continued.

Most recently, Billingham stepped up for Angelina Jolie when she was traveling to another country for her humanitarian efforts by taking care of her before the event and watching over Maddox once she was ready to address her audience.

“What surprised me was [Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s] low level of common sense,” Billingham continued. “I found it crazy when they would ask me questions like, ‘How do I go down to that bar?’ and ‘What do I need to do to get there?’ They’re not stupid, but because of the world they live in they just haven’t done something like that for so long. I found that weird.”

Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt on September 19 after just over two years of marriage. Since then, the children have seen their father for just one supervised visit. In the meantime, they’ve seemingly been on lockdown at their new rented home in Hidden Hills. Although the six kids were previously living in Malibu with their mother, they recently rented Denise Richards’ home, which boasts a decent sized lot and two pools.

As Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce continues to play out, the actress has stayed in hiding as Pitt has spoken out just once about his absence during a recent movie promotion.

As for what’s next for the couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are set to receive a new custody agreement at the end of the month after their temporary arrangement expires on October 20.
