‘The Originals’ Season 4 Spoilers: Klaus, Caroline Reunion, ABC To Pick Up The Show?

Things have been heating up for the Mikaelsons, especially after The Originals Season 3 left the entire family in a bind. Reports have been rife that Season 4 will premiere in January 2017, although some sources indicate that the show may be cancelled after the fourth installment. The upcoming season has been reduced to only 13 episodes as opposed to the usual 22 episodes in the previous seasons.

A major factor that has contributed to Season 4 being reduced to 13 episodes is the poor ratings for The Originals Season 3. The third installment only scored 0.39 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is far below the rating of Season 2. It was seemingly a bad move for the series to kill off Cami (Leah Pipes) and Davina (Danielle Campbell).

Instead of The CW networking dropping The Originals, it is looking for better options to salvage the show. One of the ways to save The Originals is the recent agreement that The CW entered with Netflix.

According to a report by Variety, the deal allows all shows from The CW will become available on Netflix just eight days after each series’ season finale. It is reported that the original vampire family will move to the online streaming network after The Originals Season 4.

The Originals Season 4 will reportedly open with a timeline five years in the future. It can be remembered that the Mikaelsons were in the hands of Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and baby Hope. When Season 4 debuts, Hope will be much older and she will stand on her own with regard to the matters of the vampire family.

Furthermore, it is said that some of the characters from The Vampire Diaries might cross over to The Originals after Season 4 wraps up. One of the characters believed to move from Mystic Falls to New Orleans is Caroline, who seems to still have a fling for Klaus (Joseph Morgan). A specific scene between Caroline and Klaus spurred interest in Klaroline, and aficionados have been clamoring to see the duo reunite.

In an interview with TVLine about the deal between Klaus and Caroline, executive producer Michael Narducci said, “I don’t want to speak for what they’re doing on [The Vampire Diaries], but it certainly seemed like Klaus was saying to Caroline that he would always care for her and respect her, but that he understood she had moved on.”

While Caroline is deeply in love with Stefani currently, it seems as if the doors are still open for the former and Klaus. The executive producer pointed out one incident where Stefani told Klaus that he hopes never to see him again, to which the original vampire replied, “Do right by Caroline, and if you do that, you’ll never have to worry about me again.” As a result, Klaus wants the best for Caroline.

Klaus Mikaelson’s family is currently knocked out, with Klaus being staked and held captive by Marcel. The original vampire family will need some help to win their battles, and therefore, some reinforcement from Caroline will be advantageous for them.

Meanwhile, there are reports that ABC might pick up The Originals, although nothing is confirmed yet. It will be interesting to see ABC to pick up the series considering that the two networks are currently hosting shows featuring rival comic companies DC and Marvel.

The CW airs DC-centered programs such as Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. It would be great to see ABC picking up The Originals if it will be dropped by The CW. Stay tuned for more update on The Originals Season 4 before it officially airs in January 2017.
