‘Destiny’ Max Light Level Jumps To 400 With Heroic Raid Release Tuesday

Destiny: Rise of Iron players have already begun pushing the 385 Light level cap in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One shooter. Bungie announced plans to release an update to the game next Tuesday that bumps the Light level up even higher and shuffles around the Light levels for activities and engrams to coincide with the launch of the Wrath of the Machine Raid’s Heroic Mode.

The 2.4.1 update will be released to Destiny on Tuesday, October 18. The update will increase the maximum Light level to 400 and introduce Heroic Mode for the Wrath of the Machine Raid. Bungie has said little about the harder difficulty version of the Raid, which is normal. The developer likes for players to rush out when a new Raid or difficulty level is available to discover secrets on their own and see who can complete it first.

Wrath of the Machine Heroic Mode will start later than normal following the update. Bungie will flip the switch at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT on Tuesday, October 18 to give everyone time to download the update once it is released at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.

The Light level increase to 400 brings several changes to other activities and items in Destiny: Rise of Iron. The Strike Hoard Chest at the end of Strikes will reward items up to 400 Light with this update. Additionally, the Nightfall activity, Trials of Osiris, and Iron Banner will also offer rewards at up to 400 Light. Decrypting Exotic Engrams will reward items up to 400 Light level, as well.

Notably, Nightfall won’t just be getting an increased Light level reward. The recommended Light level for the activity is also being increased from 365 to 380.

Other activities will be more rewarding too. Archon’s Forge and the Heroic SIVA Strike playlist will drop loot up to 385 Light, without a corresponding change in the recommended Light level to participate. Decrypting Legendary Engrams has the possibility of also rewarding items up to 385 Light.

Finally, Rare Engrams and rewards from the standard SIVA Strike playlist will drop at 365 Light.

Meanwhile, expect to see more Artifacts and Ghosts dropping. They are being added to Archon’s Forge completion rewards and have had their drop rates increased in Faction packages.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of any Light level changes to Faction packages in Destiny. These currently drop up to the current max, but Bungie did not refer to them at all in the announcement post for the 2.4.1 update beyond the increased Artifacts and Ghost drop rate.

Also unmentioned is the Rise of Iron version of the Festival of the Lost event. Last year’s event took place around Halloween and celebrated the holiday with in-game paper masks that player’s Guardians to wear to look like other characters from Destiny. It also featured a small quest line that involved collecting candy and Eris Morn’s favorite treat, raisins.

It is likely we will see more details about the 2016 edition of Festival of the Lost next week, following the release of Heroic Mode for Wrath of the Machine. Additionally, there is also a new season of Sparrow Racing League to look forward to in December. Destiny players are eager to see if this will be another limited time event or if Sparrow Racing will be a permanent fixture.

What do you think of the new Light levels for Destiny: Rise of Iron? Are you ready to take on the Wrath of the Machine Heroic Mode or are you still toiling away at Normal Mode? Sound off in the comments below.
