Theo James Not Surprised By Shailene Woodley Getting Arrested, ‘Divergent’ Actress Reveals All In Interview

Theo James and Shailene Woodley spent a good part of the last few years together. Filming the Divergent series helped them learn more about each other. So it’s no surprise to Theo James that the latest news involving Shailene Woodley is about her getting arrested doing something that is socially conscious.

Despite all the dating rumors surrounding him and Shailene, it looks like at the end of the day, she is uninterested in getting between him and his girlfriend, Ruth Kearney.

Shailene Woodley usually stays out of Hollywood limelight, but she came into full view of news media outlets when she got arrested in North Dakota.

“Actress Shailene Woodley continues to fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline,” reports Vogue. “This week, the Divergent star and activist was arrested for trespassing, after joining thousands of others protesting the construction of the pipeline in North Dakota. Woodley broadcast her arrest via Facebook Live. In the video, which has since amassed more than 4 million views, she accuses the police of singling her out because of her notoriety.”

“I was down there with everybody else,” she said in the interview. “I don’t know what’s going on? As soon as they came, I left… It’s because I’m well known; it’s because I have 40,000 people watching.”

The 24-year-old actress has always been interested in socio-political issues, using her Instagram to campaign for Bernie Sanders and always making those around aware of holistic living that is free from unnatural chemicals. So it’s no surprise to Theo James, his girlfriend Ruth Kearney, or anyone in Hollywood that she did something remarkable to protect the historical legacy of native American people.

After getting released from the arrest, Shailene Woodley promptly posted a picture on Instagram with a caption that showed her unwavering support for the cause.

“[O]ne day, baby, we’ll sing our poetry. the words dripping from our tongues wet with ripened patience. and the lyrics, the sweet fruits born from the seeds our aging hands are now sowing. #alwaysinallways #heartforward #uptous #NoDAPL #protectcleanwater #iamonyourside,” she wrote.

In fact, Theo James has been quite political himself. In the thick of the refugee crisis, he went to Greece, his home country, to see the matter with his own eyes.

Theo James traveled to Greece on his first visit with UNHCR ahead of World Refugee Day,” reports UNHCR. “Theo has a very personal story that connects him to the refugee situation. His grandfather, Dr. Nicholas Taptiklis, fled Greece during the Second World War, making his way by boat and then overland through Turkey to Damascus, Syria.”

“The mission with UNHCR felt deeply personal but more importantly it was eye-opening,” he said in the interview. “We are all aware of how complex and politically charged the refugee crisis is. But to meet these families, these fathers and mothers struggling in the midst of one of the greatest humanitarian crises since the Second World War, was beyond anything I had expected. These are people like you and me fleeing their country out of total necessity.”

But he is a bit more focused on advancing his career. The Divergent actor just finished promoting his next movie Underworld: Blood Wars in New York, hoping to gain some traction after his famous trilogy with Shailene Woodley.

“Kate Beckinsale and Theo James pose for photos while promoting Underworld: Blood Wars at 2016 New York Comic-Con on Friday (October 7) at Madison Square Garden in New York City,” reports Just Jared. “The actors were joined at the event by director Anna Foerster. The official trailer for the movie was released at the event.”
