Selena Gomez Is In Rehab Due To Depression And Anxiety, Or Is Justin Bieber To Blame?

Selena Gomez is currently seeking treatment at a Tennessee rehab facility, but why?

Since announcing the end of her Revival World Tour on August 30, Selena Gomez has been faced with claims of Justin Bieber being involved, but the singer insists her issues stem from “anxiety, panic attacks, and depression.”

“[Selena Gomez] is dealing with lupus, but this break is to focus on her mental health,” a source close to Gomez explained to Us Weekly magazine on October 12. “She can go to a very dark place.”

Following Selena Gomez’s statement to People Magazine, in which she alleged her mental health struggles were due to her battle with Lupus, the Us Weekly source described her rehab of choice as “private and quiet place,” but also said their program was “super intense.”

Prior to Selena Gomez’s announcement that her tour would be coming to an end, rumors began swirling in regard to how the announcement may have been tied to her past relationship with Justin Bieber and their recent feud on Instagram.

In August, months after the two hinted at a reconciliation with a flirty exchange on Instagram, Bieber shared a photo of himself and his then-girlfriend Sofia Richie, whom he began dating earlier that month. Then, after getting backlash from his fans, who didn’t want Bieber’s new love rubbed in their face, Bieber threatened to make his account private and told his fans that they weren’t really his fans if they were going to be sending negative comments to and about Richie.

After seeing the drama play out between her ex-boyfriend and his fans, Selena Gomez told the “Cold Water” singer to stop sharing photos of his new girlfriend and reminded him that he was loved by his fans, who have been there since the start of his career.

Weeks later, a music industry source claims Selena Gomez has not only canceled her tour, but also stopped writing music.

“[Selena Gomez] was supposed to be recording, but she hasn’t told anyone when she’ll be back in studio,” the insider explained.

Although Selena Gomez went weeks without being seen, she ultimately surfaced on October 7 in Alcoa, Tennessee, where she, her mother and her step father enjoyed a meal at Texas Roadhouse. One day after the dinner date, Selena Gomez was seen with her grandparents at the Riverstone Restaurant in Townsend, Tennessee, where she reportedly had breakfast.

“[Selena Gomez] was just like any other guest,” the steakhouse’s manager told Us Weekly. “She was really nice and tipped well.”

At breakfast, the source added, “[Selena Gomez] was laughing a lot with them while she was eating. She seemed happy and relaxed.”

Following Selena Gomez’s comment to Bieber about keeping his girlfriend’s photos off of his Instagram page, Bieber took aim at Gomez and slammed her for using him for publicity. In response, Gomez reminded Bieber that she had graciously forgiven him after he cheated on her multiple times during their relationship years ago. He then hinted that Gomez had cheated on him as well and done so with former One Direction singer Zayn Malik, who is currently dating her friend, model Gigi Hadid.

Selena Gomez has not yet revealed if and when she will return to showbiz and continue with the remaining dates of her Revival World Tour. Instead, she’s stayed completely silent since her August 30 statement to People Magazine as she continues on with her treatment.
