Bella Thorne recently revealed that she is bisexual, and now, just a short while after making that confession, Ms. Thorne has opened up about how sharing her sexual orientation has changed her acting prospects. Bella also shared her celebrity girl crushes and that may be just enough to make boyfriend Tyler Posey jealous. Unlike many Hollywood actresses, Bella Thorne shares much from her personal life on her social media accounts, from Twitter to Instagram, and now, as she opens up about her career and lifestyle, Bella shares just why she feels so comfortable laying it bare for all to see.
Bella Thorne On Coming Out As Bisexual To Her Fans
While it may be news to those who don’t follow Bella on Twitter, she recently came out as bisexual on the social media site, and as Us Weekly shares, she didn’t stop there. Thorne has since revealed her two biggest celebrity girl crushes and they’re both noteworthy music artists.
“Demi Lovato, I must say … rawrrrr. She is a pretty toasty woman,” Thorne said. “Miley Cyrus too. She’s dope. But Demi is fire, just fire.”
When asked why she made the decision to come clean about her sexual orientation, Bella replied that it wasn’t a conscious decision for her. It happened very spontaneously, in fact. One of Thorne’s followers tweeted the question of whether she was bisexual and Bella replied instantly that she is bisexual. It wasn’t planned, and for Thorne, it wasn’t a big deal.
It wasn’t a big deal for her fans either, because Bella says she’s received a tremendous amount of positive feedback from her fans.
She was also asked what she looks for in the ideal partner.
“Somebody who gets you,” Bella replied. “That relationship where somebody’s just completely accepted who I am as a person and is just like, ‘F**k it!’ I love that.”
Being Bisexual Has Had An Unexpected Impact On Bella Thorne’s Career
In talking with Maxim, Ms. Thorne reveals that coming out as bisexual has already affected her standing as an actress in Hollywood. In spite of the current social climate, Bella says Hollywood executives haven’t been beating around the bush when it comes to addressing her bisexuality.
“It is hard in this business for us. It really is. I have already had people talk sh** to me,” says Ms. Thorne. “And it comes from people in the industry, not even fans. I’ve had studios tell me my image is too ‘out there,’ hinting at it but not really saying it.”
It hasn’t just been her bisexuality, either. Publicists working with Bella repeatedly caution her to tone down her social media posts, suggesting her unfiltered posts may be too much for some fans. Sure, some of the images shared by Thorne are overtly sexual and flirtatious, but, for the most part, Bella just likes to share the happiest moments of her life. She’s real and she’s unapologetic and more than a display of sexuality; that may be what frightens Hollywood moguls and publicists the most.
In the end, it doesn’t really matter why Hollywood is bothered by the real Bella Thorne, because she has no intention of changing. That would be true, even if Thorne hasn’t had similar advice from a respected fellow actress.
“Jessica Chastain gave me great advice, which was, ‘Don’t let anyone change you. You’ve got to be you,'” Thorne said. “Getting advice from an amazing person like that who has had a beautiful career and has stayed cool, that really stuck with me.”
Whatever she’s doing, it seems to be working. Bella Thorne is a rising name in Hollywood, in spite of her bisexuality. Most of her fans know Bella for the role she plays on MTV’s Scream, but she has much more going on.
“I’ve got Madea coming out, and I’ve got Keep Watching coming out later this year,” says Ms. Thorne. “I’m also working on new music right now, something punk-ish which is interesting. I got some other sh** I’m doing, but I can’t remember.”
