Adam Levine And Maroon 5 Are Back With A New Single After The Birth Of His First Child

Adam Levine is getting back to his roots with the return of Maroon 5.

After two years without any new music, the new dad has released a new track with his band — and with rapper Kendrick Lamar.

On October 12, Perez Hilton shared news of the new track, “Don’t Wanna Know,” and revealed that Adam Levine and Maroon 5 are set for a debut performance of the new single on The Ellen Degeneres Show on November 3. The band also has a music video for the track, which will be released on Friday.

Adam Levine’s newest single comes just weeks after the singer and coach of The Voice welcomed his first child with wife Behati Prinsloo, daughter Dusty Rose Levine. Prior to the birth, Adam Levine announced that he and Maroon 5 would be postponing several of their tour dates in order to allow him to be home with his new baby and adjust to life as a new parent with his wife.

On Instagram in September, Adam Levine first broke the news of his much-needed time off and told fans that the tour break was “par for the course” and apologized for the inconvenience.

“Even when you think you’ve planned everything perfectly, sometimes life just kinda happens,” Adam Levine said in a statement, via Entertainment Tonight. “Soon Behati and I will be celebrating the birth of our first child and, as I’m sure you all understand, I need to be there. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone in the spring.”

At the time, the outlet revealed that shows in Albany, Montreal, Quebec, Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinatti and Milwaukee had been rescheduled by Adam Levine and the band to dates in February and March of next year. The U.S. leg of the tour then kicked off as planned in San Antonio, Texas weeks ago.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo have been planning for children since shortly after they tied the knot in July 2014 and in March, Levine confirmed they were expecting.

After announcing he would be welcoming his first child with Prinsloo, Adam Levine began production on the 11th season of The Voice, which recently welcomed new cast members Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus. All the while, the Maroon 5 rocker continued to gush over his then-upcoming gig as a dad both in interviews and on social media, where he frequently shared photos of Prinsloo and her baby bump.

“I’m about to be a dad. I’m superpumped,” Adam Levine told Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan during an appearance on Live! with Kelly & Michael earlier this year, via a report by Us Weekly. “I’m having a girl.”

Adam Levine also opened up about his wife’s pregnancy cravings, which consisted of watermelon at the time.

“She’s good, man, she’s just, you know, been eating a lot of weird food… Watermelon, that’s the thing in our house. A lot — so much watermelon,” Adam Levine revealed.

“Maybe she just, like, really likes watermelon,” Levine added of Prinsloo’s desire for the fruit. “I mean, it’s delicious. I’m glad it’s not, like, pickles or some weird thing.”

In addition to Adam Levine’s posts about his wife and child, Prinsloo also documented her pregnancy on Instagram and has continued to share photos after their daughter’s birth.
