The on-and-off relationship of Stone and Garfield, who met while filming The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, supposedly ended for good in October 2015. Since that time, rumors have swirled around Emma and her alleged involvement with La La Land and Crazy Stupid Love co-star Ryan Gosling.

Numerous gossip outlets have recently reported on a secret engagement between Stone and Garfield. Other conjecture posits that any supposed involvement of Emma with Ryan Gosling was simply a hoax meant to drum up publicity for their recent co-starring vehicles.

According to Yibada, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are not back together, and the couple simply remain good friends. But what about the Emma Stone Andrew Garfield engaged rumors? The linked Yibada article, which claims to have a source close to the couple, runs counter to other reports like a recent News Everyday piece stating that Emma and Andrew engaged, and that Ryan Gosling did not split the couple up.
In a piece for Interview magazine last year, actress Diane Keaton spoke to Emma Stone about her start in film and her relationship with Andrew Garfield. Keaton quoted a poetic verse by Andrew about working with Stone.
“Working with Emma was like diving into a thrilling, twisting river and never holding on to the sides. From the start. To the end. Spontaneous. In the moment. Present. Terrifying. Vital. The only way acting with someone should be.”
Emma told Diane that her “heart swells up” when hearing the romantic prose from Andrew. Elsewhere in the interview, Stone told Keaton that it was “good for him” to be in a relationship with her.
Emma Stone first came to acting prominence with her starring turn in 2010’s Easy A, following supporting roles in films such as Superbad, The House Bunny, and Zombieland. After her acclaimed performance in the Michael Keaton movie Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Stone told Indiewire how lucky she feels to have been granted the opportunity to act at such a star-studded level.
“I’m always crying and babbling on about how excited I am about things. There are big moments where I feel very overwhelmed by opportunities and chances to do things that I really love and really care about. Especially in the last couple of years, it’s just been surreal what’s happened in the last couple of years.”
Andrew Garfield got his start in the 2007 drama Lions for Lambs. Upon gaining mainstream recognition for starring as Facebook investor Eduardo Saverin in 2010’s The Social Network, Andrew landed the part of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man. Garfield reprized the titular superhero role in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Emma Stone starred as Peter Parker’s love interest, Gwendolyne “Gwen” Stacy, in both Amazing Spider-Man films.
It remains to be seen if Andrew Garfield is really back together with Emma Stone. Perhaps the celebrity couple really are engaged. If so, they may simply wish to keep their vows out of the spotlight. Regardless, the rumors surrounding the supposed love triangle of Stone, Garfield, and Gosling will surely continue.
