Kate Middleton made her first public appearance in the UK since topless photos were released of her last month, setting off a media frenzy and a tenacious legal defense from the royal palace.
Middleton and Prince William appeared at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, which, according to its website, is one of the four Inns of Court in England with the rights to allow men and women to practice law in England. As ABC News noted, Kate Middleton wore a burgundy tiered skirt and matching jacket by designer Paule Ka and looked calm and collected at the appearance.
The couple used the appearance to announce a new series of scholarships for law students in financial need or who have overcome adversity in their studies. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Scholarships now join other funds set up in the names of Queen Elizabeth II, theQueen Mother, and Prince William’s late mother,Diana.
The easygoing appearance was a long way from the stressful month the couple suffered after French magazine Closer published topless photos of Kate Middleton. The secretly taken photos were then published in a number of other magazines throughout Europe with Dutch magazine Se Og Her even publishing bottomless photos of Kate Middleton changing her swimsuit.
Despite her poised appearance in the UK, sources told ShowbizSpy that Kate Middleton is still filled with anxiety over her body image.
“Kate has always been insecure about her body,” a source said. “While she wasn’t amused that the world’s media published photos of her topless and naked, she has been given something of a boost from the whole scandal.
“Kate has seen some of the positive comments about her body on the internet. It’s made her feel much more positive. But she’ll be more careful in the future.”
The source went on to add that Kate Middleton is terrified about tarnishing her reputation and has been apologizing to family members for letting her guard down and allowing the topless photo scandal to unfold.
