Meghan Linsey Of ‘The Voice’ Speaks Out About Sexual Assault by ‘Powerful’ Music Business Man After Trump’s Comments

Meghan Linsey of The Voice is joining several celebrities in speaking out about being sexually assaulted after a Donald Trump recording was revealed. Meghan is known for being on The Voice, but she was also on the show Can You Duet while she was part of the group Steel Magnolia. Taste of Country shared what Meghan had to say about a sexual assault that she has been quiet about until now.

Donald Trump’s tape that recently came out has a lot of celebrities sharing that they were sexually assaulted, but just didn’t reveal it. Meghan Linsey is sharing the details of an assault that happened to her when she was first trying to make it in the music business. Meghan shared the details with fans on her personal Facebook page and then also spoke with Yahoo to follow up on some of the details.

Linsey says that while she was touring with Steel Magnolia, a “very powerful man in the music business” reached up under her skirt, groped her and tried to pick her up by her behind. Meghan said that a lot of important people were there when it went down, but she isn’t sharing who it was at this time. Here is some of what Meghan Linsey had to say.

“I was mortified and told him not to touch me and to put me down. It caused quite a scene and I could tell that he was embarrassed and angry. The next night he came up behind me and whispered in my ear, he said, ‘I have boats bigger than you could ever imagine, and I could put you in the middle of the ocean where no one would ever hear from you again. Just remember that.’ He laughed and walked away.”

Linsey shared that she was told by her manager and the head of her label not to ever share this story. Meghan didn’t say who the head of her label was, but at the time they were signed to Big Machine Records, which is lead by Scott Borchetta. Meghan revealed that both of these people told her if she wanted a country career to never say a word to anyone. It sounds like they knew this person could destroy her.

Meghan Linsey shared that she wasn’t voting for Donald Trump anyway, but she wasn’t happy about his comments. She said, “Because at the end of the day. It’s NOT just talk. This is rape culture, where powerful men sexually assault women and get away with it because of ‘who they are.'”

Vanity Fair shared that Anderson Cooper wants Donald Trump to know that his comments are not okay. During last night’s Presidential Debate Anderson told him that the 2005 comments about groping women were not okay by telling him “This is sexual assault.” Trump replied to him right away.

“No, I didn’t say that at all, I dont think you understood it at all. This was locker room talk. I am not proud of it. I apologized to my family and the American people. I am not proud of it. This is locker room talk.”

Trump then went on to say that nobody has more respect for women than he does and shared his thoughts even more.

“You hear these things. They are said. I am embarrassed by it. I have respect for women and they have respect for me. I will make our country safe and we will have borders which we don’t have now. People are powering in and coming in from the Mideast and other places and make America safe again and great again and safe again and make America wealthy again. If you don’t do that, it just sounds harsh to say, but we have to build up the wealth of our nation. Other nations are taking our job and wealth.”
