On the eve of Sunday’s town hall style debate, Trump’s campaign was rocked by its biggest controversy to date. On Friday afternoon, the Washington Post published audio from 2005 showing Trump and Access Hollywood host Billy Bush engaged in some lewd banter.
In the leaked audio — which has come to be known as the Trump Tapes — Trump talked about his aggressive pursuit of women he found attractive and appeared to admit to sexually assaulting unwilling women.
“I’m automatically attracted to beautiful [women]—I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything… Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything.”

Those who watch the second presidential debate live online are likely to see Donald Trump on the attack, ABC News noted. After reeling from the release of Friday’s tape, Trump has reportedly retreated to his campaign headquarters at Trump Tower and huddled with advisers about how to proceed.
As the report noted, it seems that Trump’s strategy for the debate will be to pivot away from his own controversy and focus on Bill Clinton’s past.
“Debate preparation, if any, was minimal, according to multiple sources. Instead, the meetings were focused on how best to handle the campaign’s next move.
“But Trump seemed to indicate his next move via one of his most potent tools: Twitter. He retweeted a handful of tweets by Juanita Broaddrick, a former nursing home administrator that alleged Bill Clinton raped her in 1978. Sources confirmed that act summarized Trump’s plans to go after Clinton and his marital indiscretions.”
And Hillary Clinton could be planning much of the same for Trump. Aside from a short statement on Twitter, Clinton has remained silent in the wake of the Trump Tapes release and instead let the dozens of Republicans do the work of condemning Trump. The Republican candidate has seen the GOP turn against him, with many high-profile members of the party speaking out in some way and even the Republican National Committee walking back its support by pulling key get-out-the-vote funding.
But Clinton reportedly plans to use Sunday’s debate to respond publicly, Yahoo News noted. It will lend even more drama to a race that has grown intense as Clinton’s lead widens. Donald Trump turned his first debate performance into a week of insults and fighting, as he took on former Miss Universe Alicia Machado and began more aggressively going after Bill Clinton for his past sex scandals.

All the while, Trump has been sinking in the polls, going from a near-tie with Clinton into what today is a large and still growing deficit. That puts even more pressure on Sunday’s debate for Trump to not only stop the bleeding from his recent scandal, but also bring some of the more wary voters back into his camp.
