‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7: Jon Snow’s New Girlfriend, Emilia Clarke’s Windy Set Photos [SPOILERS]

Warning: This article may contain Game of Thrones Season 7 spoilers.`

Jon Snow (Kit Harington) has been through a lot the last couple of seasons. He’s been in battle after battle, he died, he was resurrected and his lover Ygritte (Rose Leslie) was tragically killed. But now, Game of Thrones Season 7 spoilers suggest the new King of the North may soon find love again.

However, there is some confusion on the matter.

The Daily Mail first reported that a new face — 19-year-old actress Megan Parkinson — has been photographed on the Game of Thrones set with Harington and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth). The newspaper said Parkinson was cast as Sophie Turner’s (Sansa Stark) double. That is a plausible theory, as the two actresses look somewhat similar.

However, fan site Watchers On the Wall took a closer look at the pics and determined that Parkinson is significantly shorter than Turner, which is unusual for a body double. They also noticed she was wearing a simple, Northern-style costume that is not really Sansa’s current style. Further, in one photo she is wearing a sword belt, but Sansa hasn’t used a sword in past Game of Thrones seasons.

So if Parkinson is not Turner’s double, who is she playing in Game of Thrones Season 7?

WOTW speculated that she could be playing the “16-year-old Northern girl” listed in the Season 7 casting breakdown released in June. That breakdown said the character required an actress with a Northern accent and that the actress would be taking part in “a high-stakes scene with leading cast members.” Parkinson was photographed on set with Harington and Christie, so she meets the “leading cast members” requirement. She also is from Yorkshire, so she has the proper accent.

And why do some Game of Thrones fans think the “Northern girl” Parkinson appears to be playing could be Jon Snow’s new love interest? Mostly because of some on-set photos showing the actress and Harington hugging after a day of filming.

The photos aren’t definitive proof of anything, but since Snow has already had a redheaded woman as his love interest, Parkinson’s “Northern girl” would seem to fit his pattern. It could also make sense for Snow, as the new King of the North, to take a wife for diplomatic reasons. We’ll have to wait until next summer to find out for sure, but it’s an intriguing theory for now.

In other Game of Thrones Season 7 spoilers, Emilia Clarke posted two Instagram photos last week that demonstrate the wintery filming conditions the show’s cast and crew are currently facing in Northern Ireland. In a selfie from Friday, Clarke is bundled up in a winter coat and rain bonnet, her Daenerys costume completely covered.

In a video posted on Thursday, Clarke is seen facing massive wind gusts, her voice barely heard above the roar.

“We’re filming. This is Bear Grylls filming circa Game of Thrones,” she says in the clip.

She then writes, “And then I fell over. Or rather a brisk 50 mph N. Irish wind caught me unawares.”

As Entertainment Weekly reported, production on Game of Thrones Season 7 was actually delayed so crews could take advantage of the Northern Ireland winter.

“Now that winter has arrived on Game of Thrones, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing,” said HBO president of programming, Carter Bloys. “Instead of the show’s traditional spring debut, we’re moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule.”
