‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Rick Promises To Kill Negan In Season 7 Sneak Peek

AMC released a brand new sneak peek ahead of the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead and it is a good one. The new trailer picks up right where the Season 6 finale left off and proves a few spoilers that had been hotly debated in the months since the season-ending cliffhanger left fans biting their nails wondering who Negan’s victim is going to be.

Beware: There are several The Walking Dead spoilers and a bit of theory ahead that might upset those who are not caught up (and even those who are).

Let’s start off with the obvious in the three-and-a-half-minute sneak peek that dropped like a hot potato to YouTube on October 8. Rick Grimes is alive and will stay that way at least for a while. With a wild look of disbelief, shock, and grief, he comes face to face with Negan during the clip and makes a promise.

In the background, you can hear the rest of the survivors crying as Negan approaches Rick. Then Negan says, “What? Was the joke that bad?”

“I’m going to kill you,” Rick tells his biggest enemy to date.

“What?” Negan says as he kneels in to get eye-to-eye with Rick. “I didn’t quite catch that. You’re gonna have to speak up.”

“Not today, not tomorrow but I’m gonna kill you,” Rick repeats.

That’s when Negan introduces Simon as his right-hand man and tells Rick that everyone needs a right-hand man. He even suggests that one of the survivors who is “still breathing” might be Rick’s right-hand man before then suggesting that maybe it was the one whom Negan just killed as he raises up a very bloody Lucille. Wouldn’t it make sense with Abraham’s size and ability that Negan might peg him for Rick’s right-hand man?

Negan seems to be mocking Rick when he asks about what kind of weapon the leader of the survivors was carrying when they were stopped. It turns out, Rick had a hatchet, which has now been confiscated by Negan. Afterward, the Season 7 villain of The Walking Dead grabs Rick by the jacket and drags him across the gravel to the RV and both go inside. That’s where the very telling sneak peek ends.

It’s unclear what Negan is doing with Rick when he drags him into the trailer. Some TWD spoiler addicts guessed that he was going to use Rick’s hatchet to cut Rick’s hand off. That is not the case, though, according to The Spoiling Dead Fans.

Sometimes when trailers are dropped for the upcoming episodes, they give up even more than what is actually said, though. In this particular case, it’s clear that there are many clues as to who Negan’s victim is and what is coming for Rick’s group now that Negan has arrived and is terrorizing everyone who lives in the Alexandria Safe Zone.

One of the biggest clues in the new Season 7 trailer that might turn out to be a huge The Walking Dead spoiler is the smear of blood on Rick’s right cheek. As he is confronted by Negan, who is still holding a blood-drenched Lucille, it is pretty clear that the blood does not belong to him. As a matter of fact, it looks like it came from whoever Negan just killed and is probably proof that it was someone to Rick’s right and also someone who was kneeling rather close to their leader at the time of the brutal attack.

Sitting to Rick’s immediate right is Maggie with Abraham right next to her. After that sits Michonne, Daryl, Rosita, and Glenn in that order. A prevailing theory for The Walking Dead spoiler chasers is that Abraham gets the barbed-wire covered bat and based on Negan’s comment about him taking it “like a champ,” that would lead many to believe that it’s not Maggie, who was suffering a huge health crisis and was the reason for the trip to the Hilltop Colony in the first place. Even Redditors are speculating that Negan’s victim is Abraham based on the blood on Rick’s face.

It has been speculated for months that Abraham is the one who will die in the Season 6 cliffhanger and the new sneak peek teaser is just more proof that this theory may be the correct one. That said, AMC has been known to throw out misdirects and has worked tirelessly to keep Negan’s victim a secret for all of these months. They have even gone so far as to send out cease and desist letters and to file DMCA copyright grievances to have certain content removed from Google before the public gets a hold of it.

After watching the new Season 7 trailer for The Walking Dead, do you think Abraham is Negan’s victim from the Season 6 finale cliffhanger? Tell us what clues you see in the new AMC trailer in the comments section below.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC for Season 7 on Sunday, October 23, at 9/8c.
