Antonio Luna and Sergi Enrich are in hot water after a sex tape leaked showing the footballers in an explicit scene with an unidentified woman.
The video reportedly hit the internet this week, showing the two men engaged in a sex act with a woman who was not identified, the Metro noted. Luna, the former Aston Villa player, now plays alongside Enrich for Eibar.
Shortly after the video began going viral, the two footballers issued a joint apology on Enrich’s Twitter account. While they did not appear to apologize for the incident itself, the men said they were sorry for any harm it caused the woman seen in the video.
“In light of the circulation on social media of a sexually explicit video in which we, the undersigned, appear, we want to state that the video shows a recording of a private act which took place between fully consenting adults, within the scope of the freedoms we all enjoy,” they wrote.
“We deeply regret that an indiscretion for which we are not responsible has led to these images being published without our knowledge or, far less, our consent.”
Antonio Luna and Sergi Enrich also apologized to the city of Eibar and the team they represent, asking fans for forgiveness.
“We are aware that professional footballers should set an example in every walk of life, especially to children; this being the reason we apologize if this incident has caused harm to anyone,” the two wrote.

Antonio Luna had a short and largely disappointing stint with Aston Villa. Though he notched a goal in his full debut, a win over Arsenal on the opening day of the 2013-14 season, he failed to score in his next 17 appearances. As the Daily Mail noted, he was shipped out on loan to Verona after that and found his way to Eibar when Aston Villa terminated his contract.
The sex tape scandal comes at a bad time not only for Antonio Luna and Sergi Enrich, but also for their Eibar squad. The team currently ranks No. 8 in La Liga with three wins, two draws, and two losses in their first seven games. They just earned a point at Real Madrid for the first time, a 1-1 draw.
There could be some time for the scandal to die down a bit before the team takes the pitch again. Eibar’s next match is close to two weeks away, an October 17 contest against bottom-dwelling Osasuna, which has just three points in their first seven contests. Teams in La Liga are on a bit of a break during a stretch of international play including World Cup qualifying matches.
The sex tape itself has been making the rounds on social media, though the U.K.’s Sun noted that most Spanish newspapers are not publishing it.
Antonio Luna and Sergi Enrich are not the only footballers to get in trouble because of a sex tape scandal. Real Madrid star Karim Benzema found himself in a long controversy after he was accused of blackmailing French international teammate Mathieu Valbuena
As the Daily Mail noted, Benzema allegedly asked for money to keep the video from being published. Benzema ended being left off of the French team this summer amid the scandal.
“The capacity of the players to strive towards unity, within and around the squad, to be exemplary…are also taken into account,” team officials said in a press released (translated by AFP). “As a result, [team coaches and officials] have decided that Karim Benzema will not be able to participate at Euro 2016.”
It is not yet clear if Antonio Luna and Sergi Enrich could face discipline from their Eibar team for the sex tape scandal.
