Things didn’t go so well for Kanye West at New York Fashion Week. The rapper reportedly fired his entire staff after he suffered from a “meltdown” and “nervous breakdown” after his Yeezy Season 4 show, according to reports.
Kanye West had a reported “meltdown” and fired all 30 of his staff after his Yeezy fashion show at New York Fashion Week back in September. An alleged insider spoke out to Page Six about what really went down behind the scenes at his runway show and what caused West to have a meltdown.
“He had his agent fire all 30 of his staff after the fashion show and got rid of his phone so people can only contact him via email. He had a nervous breakdown after the show, and that’s what triggered it all.”
The report also claims that West received terrible reviews for his show. Most of the models look “miserable” and a “hot mess,” as some of them nearly fainted and had trouble walking in the ridiculously high shoes during the runway show. He also gave the staff strict orders after he noticed how much negative attention he received.
West was pretty much acting out like he usually does, alleges the first insider. He always has some sort of temper tantrum after his shows, especially if something goes wrong. But a second source close to West insists that he never had a “meltdown” or “breakdown,” he just wasn’t happy with the way things went and let some people go.
“He didn’t have a ‘nervous breakdown.’ Some people got let go, and there was a reorganization of others who he moved back to the music side of things. He’s a grownup. He was reflective and disappointed in how things went… He took stock in what people were saying and he was disappointed. But he’s more determined than ever to get that stuff right. And as far as throwing away his cellphone? If he did, then it’s not the first time. He always does that.”
The hip-hop artist wanted to do something different this time around. West premiered his latest collection to an audience on Roosevelt Island, reports the Mirror. He invited fashion editors, bloggers, and social media stars to check out his latest creations. But the photographic show was overshadowed by reports that models fainted in the heat and were in need of water as they stood outside in the sun without shade.
During the fashion show, Stella Bugbee, who is an editor for New York Magazine‘s The Cut, tweeted that she had to leave the show because she was uncomfortable watching the models. She slammed Adidas and said the brand should be “ashamed” because the models could barely walk or stand.
“Most awful thing I have ever seen at #NYFW. Getting the f*** out of this. #YeezySeason4 what a nightmare,” she wrote.
The rapper has since put his focus on his music and his Saint Pablo Tour after his runway flop. Thankfully, the tour is doing the “Famous” rapper some good since West has been breaking records with ticket sales and attendance. However, West was forced to quit his show at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in Queens after he found out that his wife, Kim Kardashian, was robbed at gunpoint inside her Paris apartment.
He was scheduled to perform in Detroit and Philadelphia later this week, but LiveNation announced on Tuesday, Oct. 4, that West’s next shows have been postponed due to Kardashian’s scary incident. Philly’s show has been rescheduled for Dec. 13, while the Detroit show will now take place on Dec. 22, reports TMZ. The Saint Pablo Tour will continue on Friday, Oct. 7, in Chicago.
West has been seen outside his New York City safehouse on Tuesday evening, reports the Daily News. He was seen without Kardashian, who has been keeping a low profile in the aftermath of her Paris robbery. West was spotted with a bodyguard by his side, as he kept his head hidden underneath his hooded sweatshirt.
