Rob Cohen Claims You May Have To Wait For Third ‘xXx’ Movie

Filmmaker Rob Cohen explained during a recent interview that fans of the xXx franchise may have to wait a while for the proposed third installment to arrive in theaters. According to Cinema Blend, the Alex Cross director touched upon rumors that another flick in the action-packed series could be on its way to the big screen. Unfortunately, it would appear the movie isn’t going to happen at any point in the near future.

Rob Cohen explained to We Got This Covered that the fate of the next xXx rests in the extremely busy hands of star Vin Diesel, who is currently spending quite a bit of his professional time with the Fast and the Furious franchise. As soon as the actor has finished with his present obligations, production on the third xXx could, in theory, begin.

“I’d be happy to do it. I mean, it is my baby. No matter what way they twist it, I am still the guy who did the first one and made it what it was,” Cohen said in regards to returning to both xXx and Fast and the Furious. “The first couple sequels though, what I hated about them was that it was just for money, the studio was just milking the cash cow. It’s a miracle they didn’t kill it. If you were to just watch ‘Tokyo Drift,’ you’d say ‘I never want to see anything related to Fast and Furious again.’ ”

Once his mission to bring the Tyler Perry thriller Alex Cross to the movie-going masses, Rob Cohen will begin work on 1950. The historical drama chronicles the adventures of a female war journalist who fights for her rights to report on the front lines during the Korean War.

Do you think director Rob Cohen should direct sequels to both xXx and The Fast and the Furious?
