Brock Lesnar Vs. Goldberg Happening At ‘Survivor Series’?

Goldberg’s rumored return to WWE has been one of the hottest topics in wrestling over the last couple of months, and, according to ex-WWE play-by-play man Jim Ross, the former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion could be making his return to the worldwide leader in sports entertainment sooner than expected.

Ross said on Twitter that Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar is seriously being discussed for this November’s Survivor Series pay-per-view. He also made it clear that, as of right now, this is just a rumor, but he also said that the person who told him that the match could take place next month is a pretty reliable source.

Ross also said the following on his podcast, The Ross Report:

“The big news is a couple rumors, and these are good sources, but it doesn’t mean they’re accurate, it just means that they have been reliable in the past. Rumor one: Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar. Yes, that’s seriously being discussed, according to the sources. When? I don’t know. Could it be as early as Survivor Series? It might be. Could it be penciled in for WrestleMania? That would be my choice.”

JR never mentioned who his “reliable source” was, but we do know that one of the sources could be Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who said on Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio that there are “serious talks” going on between WWE and Bill Goldberg. On top of that, it was announced on Monday that Goldberg will be appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Wednesday, and the big tease is that he’ll be talking about his current relationship with WWE. Will he announce that he’s coming back during the interview? We’ll see!

Shortly after he was revealed as this year’s pre-order bonus for WWE 2K17, Goldberg did an interview on WWE.com where he said that he has several matches left in him. He talked about a few potential opponents during the interview, but the one name that kept getting brought up was Brock Lesnar.

Goldberg has done a heck of a job at teasing a match between himself and Lesnar over the last couple of months. When asked about a potential match with Brock, Goldberg always says that the back and forth between he and Lesnar is just to help sell video games, but he’s also said that he’s willing to come back to WWE and make the match a reality.

Most expected Goldberg to show up at August’s SummerSlam show. But instead, the show went off the air after Brock Lesnar laid out both Randy Orton and Shane McMahon. During Lesnar’s brutal assault on Orton, the live crowd in Brooklyn, New York was chanting for Goldberg, but, as previously mentioned, they didn’t get him, and the former WCW megastar apologized to the WWE fans on Twitter for not showing up at the event.

Even thought their first match back at WrestleMania 20 was a complete disaster, WWE fans are extremely interested in seeing Goldberg and Brock Lesnar lock horns again. Will the rumored rematch be better than their first encounter back in 2004? Well, that depends on how motivated they are. Their first match was a disaster because neither man cared about putting on a good performance, as both of them were leaving the company the very next day. Now, they’re both in a different spot, so motivation shouldn’t be an issue.

The 30th annual Survivor Series event will take place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on November 20. So far, there aren’t any announced matches for the show, and there probably won’t be until after the October 30 Hell in a Cell show. So, unless Goldberg announces that he’ll be wrestling Lesnar at the event during his appearance on SportsCenter, we’ll have to wait until next month to find out if it’s going to happen.
