Soulja Boy Quit ‘Love & Hip Hop Hollywood’ Because It’s ‘Too Ratchet,’ Teases New TV Show

Season 3 of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood isn’t over yet but Soulja Boy already announced that he wouldn’t be coming back for Season 4. In a series of tweets, the “Crank That” rapper announced his departure from the VH1 reality show. His reason for leaving was that LHHH no longer aligns with his brand and that the show is “too ratchet” to continue.

Soulja Boy hinted at his departure with a tweet that reads,”Beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from negativity.” It was the second tweet where he announced that he was leaving the VH1 reality show. “I’ve decided to quit Love and Hip Hop,” he wrote. “I feel my brand is too big for the show now. It’s too ratchet.”

When Love & Hip Hip Hollywood began three seasons ago, Soulja Boy was one of the original cast members. He joined the show alongside his former girlfriend Nia Riley. The former pair spent the first two seasons documenting their dysfunctional relationship. While the two have since split, that didn’t stop Soulja from bashing her pretty heavily prior to the start of the current season.

Just before Season 3 of LHHH began, Soulja Boy took to social media and confirmed that he would be a part of the cast. So far, his presence during Season 3 has been pretty scarce with only a few appearances and nothing to highlight what he is currently up to.

Along with his announcement that he is leaving the show, Soulja said that fans could look forward to his new TV show. Unfortunately, he didn’t give any details on what that show would be about or what channel it might be on. Fans have been speculating on what the rapper may be up to next and their guesses have ranged everywhere from a show on Oprah’s OWN network to a role on 50 Cent’s Power.

Just last week, Soulja dropped a new mixtape titled King Soulja 6. The 23-track collection features Boosie Badazz, Chief Keef, Doe Boy, Kid Red, Trill Sammy, and Mango Foo. This newest release came just a month after another Soulja Boy project titled Rockstar.

It was just last month that Soulja Boy made waves when he shared a picture of a VH1 check on social media. The rapper boasted that he was earning $25,000 per episode from Love & Hip Hip Hollywood, much more than many of the reality stars signed on for LHHH and other cities where the show is produced.

Last May, Soulja Boy claimed to have inked a $400 million business deal. It turns out that the rapper partnered with World Poker Fund Holdings according to Vibe. It turns out that Soulja wouldn’t actually be pocketing that much cash though but that his stock ownership for becoming an ambassador of the brand was capped at $400 million. In reality, World Poker Fund Holdings, whose main shareholders are Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Kyle Massey, Tyga, and Justin Bieber, is valued at just under $52 million.

In any case, though, Soulja Boy hasn’t been a regular fixture on Season 3 of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood. Instead, he’s been spending his time working on music and other projects, so his departure from the show may be a good move. Despite the fact that LHHH did help revive Soulja’s career when it first began, the VH1 reality show has been rolling along just fine all season long without any drama on his front.
