National Taco Day Is Here And So Are The Deals


October 4 is National Taco Day, and there are plenty of deals to be enjoyed.

No one is sure exactly how old the taco is, but it appears people were eating them for many years before Europeans visited Mexico. A Mexican staple, it is believed that Taco Bell introduced the food to the United States in 1962, according to NationalTacoDay.com. It’s unclear how National Taco Day got its start, but people have been enjoying tacos on October 4 for years.

Regardless of how National Taco Day came into existence, many retailers and food establishments join in on the celebration with taco deals. Here are some great deals to help you celebrate National Taco Day.

While you might have hoped Taco Bell would give away free tacos today, unfortunately, they aren’t. They are observing National Taco Day with free greeting cards. Just head on over to the website, and you’ll see a page with a greeting and video. Select your choice of National Taco Day card and share with friends and family.

Wendy’s opted to celebrate National Taco Day by bringing back their Tacolicious Taco Salad. You might remember the Tacolicious Taco Salad from the 1990 Wendy’s menu. Announced through a press release, Wendy’s explained the decision to bring the salad back.

The vice president of Wendy’s brand marketing, Carl Loredo, discussed the menu item’s return.

“Wendy’s Taco Salad is an all-time classic and, over the years, fans of the original have asked if we’d ever bring it out of retirement. We love how nostalgic and passionate our loyal Taco Salad fans are and look forward to introducing it to a new generation of fans with the same build and quality ingredients.”

Margarita’s Restaurant is bringing the Taco Gigante for the month of October. For National Taco Day, however, those who order a Taco Gigante will receive a free regular taco. Check the website for more information and to find a Margarita’s Restaurant near you.

The Taco Truck is running a buy-one-get-one-free (BOGO) Taco Tradicional deal. Check out the official Taco Truck website for more information on how to get this deal.

Del Taco celebrates Taco Tuesday, and they’ll have their regular three tacos for $1.99 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. You’ll find plenty of great deals and new tacos on the menu at Del Taco.

Rubio’s Coastal Grill is also celebrating National Taco Day. You can get the Original Fish Taco for only $1.75. There are many different types of tacos, and celebrating with a fish taco is perfectly acceptable. While there are many national retailers celebrating National Taco Day, some of the best deals are found on a local basis. You might want to try setting your Twitter settings to local then searching for free tacos or taco deals and seeing what results you get. Not everyone who is participating in National Taco Day is advertising through press releases or ads. Local community groups, colleges, and businesses may be participating as well. Additionally, as Taco Tuesday falls on the same day as National Taco Day, check with your favorite local eatery, as they might have deals.
