Homeland’s Damian Lewis Confronted By A Drunk Angry American Over His Terrorist Connections

Homeland star Damian Lewis has revealed that he was confronted by a fan of the show because of the terrorist links that his character possesses.

The Emmy winning actor has said that the angry American came up to him whilst they were filming the second season of Homeland in Charlotte, North Carolina in which he plays a US Marine who has been captured and then “turned” into a terrorist.

Apparently his portrayal was so convincing that people actually think that he’s plotting the downfall of America. Speaking to Knoxville.com he said, “There was a slightly hairy moment down in Charlotte. There was a barbecue going on, and there was a bunch of Southern boys drinking beer, eating fried chicken, eating steak.”

“One of them comes us to me and says ‘So you’re playing a terrorist?’ ” Lewis then responded, “I actually don’t know yet.”

Apparently the man then stared at the actor in a drunkenly beleaguered way, which led the actor to believe he was about to get his “head pulverized.”

The 41-year-old said that the man then slurred, “It’s going to p**s off a lot of people,” before then walking away. It seems like Lewis has to take the rough with the smooth though, and, having won the Best Actor Emmy for his portrayal of Sgt. Brody in the first series, I’m sure he has plenty to console himself with.

Lewis has also been invited to the White House for dinner with President Obama due to his love of the show, with the second season being lauded by US critics.
