Jimmy Kimmel And Conan O’Brien Joke About Kim Kardashian’s Paris Robbery — Offensive Or Not?

Kim Kardashian has had a terrible ordeal in Paris, and it’s only right that we feel sorry for her — whether we like her or not. After all, being bound, gagged, and robbed at gunpoint — not to mention the fear of being raped — is no laughing matter.

Unfortunately, jokes about Kardashian in light of what happened to her in Paris have been made too many times on social media since the news of her robbery broke.

Late-night show hosts Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at Kim Kardashian’s situation too in ways that are still respectful to the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, as reported by Us Weekly. Sure, they entered dangerous territory by joking about it in the first place, but these are consummate professionals who know how to poke fun without being crass or offensive.

O’Brien and Kimmel each had a different approach in addressing Kanye West’s wife’s ordeal, and they both delivered the laughs big time.

During his monologue, Kimmel, 48, explained to the audience what exactly happened to Kim. He also expressed bafflement as to how the robbers were able to come close to Kardashian in the first place, considering the fact that she has always been surrounded by a throng of cameramen wherever she goes.

“How is it possible… Somehow these guys found the one moment this decade that this woman [Kim] wasn’t surrounded by 40 people with cameras, and they took advantage of it,” Jimmy mused

And then the 48-year-old comedian declared himself the future vice president and issued a threatening message to the people who robbed Kim.

“We will tolerate a lot of nonsense, but you do not mess with Kim Kardashian West,” he said. “Whether you like her or not, she’s [Kardashian] one of us, and if we find out you harmed even a single extension on her People’s Choice Award-winning head, we will find you and make you so Les Miserables, you will wish you were never born to a woman who doesn’t shave her armpits.”

Kimmel then made mention of Ryan Lochte’s false robbery story.

“Right now, Ryan Lochte is on the set of Dancing With the Stars praying Kim made this whole thing up,” Jimmy quipped.

O’Brien, 53, on the other hand, kept his joke brief.

“No one was hurt, but in a mansion in Paris, Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint. Kim was bound and gagged — then the robbers broke in.”

Realizing the possible consequences of his joke, Conan said. “And with that, his career was over.”

CBS’ The Late Late Show host James Corden was one of the first celebrities who stood up for Kardashian in response to the internet trolls who posted hateful messages against the 35-year-old mother. Corden did it via Twitter.

“People making jokes about Kim Kardashian tonight would do well to remember that she’s a mother,a daughter,a wife,a friend.Be nice or shut up,” he wrote.

In an appearance on The Late Late Show, Jamie Lee Curtis complimented Corden for standing up for Kardashian.

“This very day, something really scary happened to a public person, and you were the first person to stand up and tell [Twitter users] that they should shut the f**k up and leave this poor woman alone and let her recover. And you—you said it! And I am impressed by you, very much,” the Scream Queens star said.

Corden agreed.

“Regardless of whatever you think of someone, it’s someone being held at gunpoint in a room,” Corden said. “Just don’t say anything. Also, you don’t need to say anything. Just don’t do anything!”

The men who robbed Kim Kardashian are still at large. According to the French police, there’s a possibility that Kim’s robbery was an inside job, as reported by TMZ.
