Lady Gaga Announces ‘Joanne’ Release Date And Backstory, Almost Unrecognizable In ‘American Horror Story’

Lady Gaga has finally announced the release date for her upcoming album titled Joanne, according to Rolling Stone magazine. The 30-year-old actress and singer, who admitted the album is named after her late aunt, announced that the album would be released on October 21 via Streamline/Interscope.

Lady Gaga, who released her last solo album Artpop nearly three years ago, is preparing for the release of her new album called Joanne. In fact, the “Bad Romance” singer planned to release Joanne as a follow-up to Artpop in the 48 hours following its 2013 release.

Interestingly, Lady Gaga’s middle name is Joanne, but the singer claims she named the album for her late aunt who died from lupus aged 19-years-old, which left a painful wound on the entire family. During her interview with host Zane Lowe on Beats 1, the singer called the album’s “Joanne” track “the true heart and soul of the record.”

Lady Gaga also added that the album would be “everything about Joanne,” it will include the experience of her family and the challenges they have gone through.

“It’s all the toughness of the pain of losing her that made us all strong and made us who we are.”

Lady Gaga said Joanne is the woman from her past who has helped her to bring more of her “honest woman self” into the future. The “Alejandro” singer also described a few tracks on the album, including “John Wayne” featuring Josh Homme.

The song explores Lady Gaga’s “incessant need to run after wild men, and somehow I get bored of the same old John,” the singer admitted. And there is also a song on Joanne called “Sinner’s Prayer” featuring Father John Misty, in which Gaga sings that she wants to break only one particular man’s heart.

Lady Gaga also revealed that Joanne was also influenced by some Bollywood themes and country music. Just last month, the singer released the first single from the upcoming album. The track, “Perfect Illusion,” was co-produced with Mark Ronson, Blood Diamonds, and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.

Although Joanne will be Lady Gaga’s first solo album since 2013’s Artpop, in 2014 she released a collaborative album with Tony Bennett titled Cheek to Cheek.

While working on hit music, Lady Gaga also hones her acting skills. In fact, Lady Gaga has recently won a Golden Globe for her performance on FX’s American Horror Story. Gaga’s other acting credits include Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Muppets Most Wanted, Machete Kills, and Men in Black 3.

In 2017, Lady Gaga will be seen in A Star Is Born, a drama musical that tells the story of a movie star who helps a young actress get famous, while his own career suffers from his senior age and alcoholism.

American Horror Story debuted its sixth season last month, and it seems that the new plot has many fans hooked already, according to MTV. And while the series stars Lady Gaga, it also has Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr.

The new season, titled My Roanoke Nightmare: An American Horror Story, is centered on a couple who move to this mysterious island to start a new life after losing their unborn child. Many viewers were left puzzled after the season premiere, as they are not sure if it was Lady Gaga standing by Kathy Bates’ character during the blood sacrifice.

Lady Gaga looks almost unrecognizable in this season of American Horror Story, and viewers can’t wait to see where her character will end up next.
