Brad Pitt Takes Drug Test Amid Custody Battle With Angelina Jolie, Did He Get Physical With Son Maddox?

Brad Pitt has reportedly submitted a voluntary drug test amid his ongoing custody battle with Angelina Jolie.

Earlier this month, Jolie filed for divorce and requested full physical custody of their six kids. A short time later, Pitt was accused of getting physical with their oldest son, Maddox, during a plane ride from France to Los Angeles, which had made a stop in Milwaukee.

“Brad Pitt voluntary took a drug test and was not asked to do so by authorities,” a source told Entertainment Tonight on September 28. “They didn’t force him to take one because it wasn’t part of the process.”

Brad Pitt is reportedly under investigation for child abuse after he and Maddox were involved in a dispute, which may or may not have turned physical. While sources close to Pitt have denied abusing the child, rumors have continued to swirl in regard to a possible assault. That said, Brad Pitt has been completely cooperative throughout the investigation against him.

Currently, Brad Pitt is believed to be staying in Los Angeles and keeping a low profile as his wife, Jolie, and six kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, eight, remain in Malibu, California, where the actress rented a home after parting ways with Pitt earlier this month.

“He’s being careful,” the source said of Brad Pitt. “He’s leaning on friends for support. This isn’t a happy time for anyone.”

While Brad Pitt has yet to file a response to Jolie’s divorce papers, which were submitted in Los Angeles last Monday, the estranged couple’s relationship may be headed in the right direction. As the source explained to Entertainment Tonight, the “fact that things have quieted down is a good sign for everyone.”

“They are a pretty normal family that has family issues from time to time,” the source continued. “It’s sad that people are exaggerating things that hurt everyone. People have verbal arguments — that’s what happens when you have a family.”

The source went on to reveal that while there was an incident between Brad Pitt and his oldest son, it was nothing more than “a child-parent disagreement” and any reports of inappropriate behavior were “exaggerated or untrue.”

“[Brad Pitt] knows the severity of the allegations and wants to be cleared of abuse before he sees them,” an insider told Us Weekly days ago. “He is confident he will be cleared. The kids are asking to see Brad, so he is hoping to see them next week.”

“He’s so torn up and shattered, not only because of the divorce but because he hasn’t seen the kids and he really wants to. Being apart from them is part of why he’s so torn up,” added a second source.

Although Brad Pitt hasn’t directly addressed the ongoing investigation against him, he did mention his “family situation” earlier this week while explaining why he would be absent from the promotion of his latest film, Terrence Malick’s Voyage of Time, which he narrates.

“Terrence’s Voyage of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time,” Brad Pitt said in a statement to Access Hollywood, via Vanity Fair. “I’m very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see.”
