Gwen Stefani’s Ex, Gavin Rossdale, Is Joining ‘The Voice UK,’ And Gwen’s Fans Aren’t Happy

Gwen Stefani fans were disappointed when they discovered that she wouldn’t be joining Blake Shelton on Season 11 of The Voice, and now they’re downright livid that Gwen’s ex-husband, British rocker Gavin Rossdale, has been hired as a coach on The Voice UK. Gwen’s fans see the move as a slap in the face to the American singer, who was left heartbroken when Gavin cheated on her with one of their children’s nannies.

On September 28, ITV announced that Gavin Rossdale had signed on for Season 6 of The Voice UK. According to Us Weekly, the Bush frontman’s fellow coaches will be Jennifer Hudson, will.i.am, and Tom Jones.

“I’m so thrilled to be joining The Voice UK,” Rossdale said. “I’ve always been extremely proud to fly the flag for British rock music and I can’t wait to join this incredible panel and help discover some new talent.”

Gavin previously appeared alongside Gwen Stefani on Season 7 of The Voice as her team’s battle rounds advisor. It was Gwen’s first time starring on the NBC singing competition, and the already-nervous pop star revealed that working with her then-husband wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience. According to Us Weekly, Gwen admitted that she and Gavin actually got into an argument the night before he made his first appearance on the show.

“We literally got in a fight the night before because I was like, ‘I don’t know about this…'” Gwen said.

She also said that the experience was “awkward” because she and Gavin “had only collaborated on making babies together” before working as a team on the show.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale may have looked like a happy couple when they appeared on The Voice in the fall of 2014, but what Rossdale was allegedly doing when they weren’t together would later destroy their marriage. According to Us Weekly, he was carrying on a long-term affair with Mindy Mann, one of their children’s nannies. A source close to Stefani said that Rossdale’s affair with Mann lasted around three years. Stefani found out about her husband’s infidelity in February 2015, and she decided to end their 13-year marriage a few months later.

As Billboard reports, Gwen Stefani later found love with Blake Shelton while shooting Season 9 of The Voice. The country singer was dealing with his own divorce heartbreak after ending his marriage to Miranda Lambert, and the costars bonded over their similar situations. Their friendship eventually evolved into a romantic relationship.

“Next thing I know, I wake up and she’s all I care about, and I’m ­wondering if she feels the same about me,” Blake Shelton said of the moment he realized he had feelings for Gwen.

Even though Gwen has moved on and is in a much happier place now, many of her fans aren’t ready to forgive Gavin for what he did to his ex-wife and kids. These upset fans have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure with his addition to The Voice UK coaching panel.

There’s no word on how Gwen and Gavin will be splitting custody of their three sons—Kingston, eight, Zuma, eight, and Apollo, two, while Gavin is in London filming the show.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, many of Gwen Stefani’s fans were disappointed when they learned that Blake Shelton’s girlfriend would not be appearing on the current season of The Voice. They believed that Gwen should have been cast in place of Miley Cyrus, whose addition to the show has outraged many viewers. However, Stefani fans may find that patience is a virtue. According to the Wrap, Gwen will “likely” return for Season 12 of The Voice.
