Nicki Minaj Hatred Of Mariah Carey Stretches Back Two Years, Report Says

Nicki Minaj has been hostile toward Mariah Carey for years, a new report finds.

The blowup between the two stars on the set of American Idol is part of a feud that stretches back for two years, TMZ.com has reported. The two teamed up for a 2010 music video called “Up Out My Face,” back when Nicki Minaj was still on the rise and Mariah Carey was helping to launch the rapper’s career.

B. Scott, who appeared in the video, told TMZ.com that Nicki Minaj was dismissive of Mariah Carey even then.

“Mariah went out of her way to be nice to Nicki and make her comfortable.” Nicki Minaj didn’t return the favor, he said, and was “making faces at her [Mariah] laced with rude comments under her breath.”

The animosity between the American Idol judges came to light this week when Mariah told Barbara Walters that Nicki threatened to shoot her if she had a gun.

A source told E! News that since the show started there was bad blood between the two, reportedly stemming from Mariah’s desire to be the star of the show.

The source told E! News:

“Mariah made it clear that she wanted to be the only woman on the [judges’] panel. And Nicki felt Mariah was being passive-aggressive with comments toward her.”

To further the feud, a clip leaked this week in which Nicki Minaj threatened to “knock [Mariah] out” while adding, “If you’ve got a f–king problem, handle it!”

In the 2010 incident, Scott said he told Mariah Carey about Nicki’s behavior, but Mariah decided to let it go.

But a source close to Nicki Minaj told TMZ.com that the claim she was mean to Mariah Carey back in 2010 isn’t true, nothing that “He works as Mariah’s stunt double and of course he would say things like that. He’s worked for her for years.”

But Scott said Mariah Carey still has a spirit of forgiveness today and wants to put her current trouble with Nicki Minaj behind her and focus on American Idol.
