‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Finale: Who Would You Like To See Return?

The fun thing about shows like Fear the Waking Dead is the fact that if you don’t see someone die on camera, there is always a chance they could show up at a later date. So, who would you like to see return to Fear the Walking Dead?

Spoiler alert: This article discusses the Season 2 finale of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead as well as AMC’s companion program, The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

When someone dies off camera in AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead and its companion show, The Walking Dead, fans always speculate over whether that character really died or if they are set to return at a later date. When Merle (Michael Rooker) was left behind, chained to a pipe and with walkers banging down the door in The Walking Dead, fans assumed the worst. However, Merle sawed off his own hand rather than die as a result of the undead. But by the time Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) was shot off-screen by her son and then apparently devoured, fans were questioning if she was really dead.

The same question have been raised already in Fear the Walking Dead. When Strand (Colman Domingo) cast aside Alex (Michelle Ang) and left her stranded on a life raft in the middle of the sea, fans were predicting her return. While Alex has already made a return in Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead, her whereabouts are currently unknown again.

Fear‘s showrunner, Dave Erickson, has always suggested there would be another return of Alex at some point. After the mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead, he told TVLine that he was “curious to know where she went,” indicating fans might get to see Alex again. Considering Stand’s boat’s location is also unknown, it is possible these two could show up again, maybe even as early as the Season 2 finale airing on Sunday night.

Another character who might show up as early as the Season 2 finale of Fear the Walking Dead is Jack (Daniel Zovatto). Jack initially made contact with Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) via radio when her group was on board Strand’s boat. He was also seen with Alex when she reemerged in Season 2. In the same interview with TVLine, Erickson explained that he was very intrigued by the relationship between Jack and Alicia. Having Jack turn up at the Rosarito Beach Hotel would be very interesting considering the history between the two.

Another couple of characters whose demise is questioned are two that apparently burned in the fire at the Abigail estate at Valle de Guadalupe in the Season 2 mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead. Dave Erickson has said Celia Flores (Marlene Forte) did not survive; however, a Reddit user has suggested otherwise.

While Erickson may insist Celia is dead, he is less definitive about Daniel Salazar (Ruben Blades), who was last seen in the same holding cell Celia was confined to. An interview he did with Yahoo! after the Season 2 mid-season finale revealed that Daniel may not be dead at all.

“We didn’t see Daniel burn for a reason. Daniel Salazar’s story is done for the season, but my hope is we will see him return in Season 3.”

So, it seems, while we won’t get to see Daniel in the Season 2 finale of Fear the Walking Dead, it is likely we will see him return in Season 3. However, as some cynical fans point out, perhaps Daniel really is dead and his return will just be in flashbacks similar to those we saw with Ofelia (Mercedes Mason) and her mother, Griselda (Patricia Reyes Spíndola), in a recent episode of Fear.

Another character that is likely to turn up at some point in further episodes of Fear the Walking Dead is Tobias (Lincoln A. Castellanos). While he only appeared very briefly in the first season of Fear the Walking Dead, he became a fan favorite. The actor who plays Tobias has confirmed that his character will eventually return to Fear, but it is unclear when.

The final characters who could make a return to Fear the Walking Dead at some point are Corporal Andrew Adams (Shawn Hatosy) and Dr. Bethany Exner (Sandrine Holt).

Andrew Adams was last seen in the Season 1 finale of Fear the Walking Dead. While in really bad shape after Travis (Cliff Curtis) beat him severely, he was still alive. And, as was pointed out earlier, if a character is not killed on screen, chances are they could make a comeback.

Dr. Bethany Exner was also in the Season 1 finale of Fear. She had been dealing with large groups of sick people and was last seen with a bolt gun in her hand, indicating she may have been suicidal. But what if Bethany didn’t kill herself? It might be a long stretch that she — or Andrew Adams — end up in Mexico, but, with Ofelia heading back to the U.S., could this be a way to bring these characters back into the show. And, considering the history Ofelia has with Andrew, it would certainly be interesting if those two were to meet up again.
