Dal Shabet: Happy Face Entertainment K-Pop Group Releases Many Teasers For 10th Mini-Album ‘Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Fri, Sat, Sun)’

2016 was a very important year for Happy Face Entertainment K-pop girl group Dal Shabet because of the situation they suffered late last year when Jiyul and Kaeun departed. Ergo, this year was about proving to the K-pop community, especially the fans, that they can come back better than ever as a four-member group which they did with their ninth extended play (EP), a mini-album titled Naturalness. It peaked at No. 10 on the Korean chart earning over 4,944 sales. Its featured song “Someone Like U” peaked at number 89 and sold over 47,159 downloads.

Apparently, Dal Shabet is not taking a break after they successfully made their comeback as a four-member group as they are planning for another comeback this autumn season. Despite it being often reserved for new K-pop girl groups to make their debut, Dal Shabet will release their 10th extended play (EP), a mini-album titled Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Fri, Sat, Sun). Right now, Dal Shabet and Happy Face Entertainment are releasing many teasers for said comeback.

To be fair, it should be noted that we are actually in the midst of Dal Shabet’s comeback schedule for Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Fri, Sat, Sun), as shown on their official Twitter. So far, K-pop fans, especially those who are Darlings (Dal Shabet’s official fan group), have already been treated to everything except for the official album release. This includes four individual teasers, three special teasers, the track list, two music video teasers, and the album highlight medley.

The official countdown on V live is next followed with the actual release of the mini-album. A link to the live video for the countdown is linked in the Twitter update attached below.

For the K-pop fans who missed out on the other updates Dal Shabet released, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Fri, Sat, Sun) will consist of five songs, as reported by AllKpop. Along with the title song which the mini-album is named after, the other songs include “Ya Heart,” “Hard 2 Love,” “Fly Boy,” and “Some, What?” In the teaser image provided for the track list, each song details the people responsible for lyrics, composition, and arrangement.

The music video for their title song “Friday, Saturday, Sunday” was highlighted in three teaser trailers, as reported by Soompi. In the first trailer, it showcases the setting of the music video, an apartment, in top-down and front views. Each of the girls are having fun in their own way during the weekend. The second trailer (attached above) continues where the first leaves off but this time shows the girls together in group activities, specifically a girls’ movie night and a birthday party celebration. As for the third teaser, the camera represents a guest in the girls’ apartment through a first person view. Eventually, everyone ends up at the dinner table to watch the debut of “Friday, Saturday, Sunday.”

At this point in their careers, it is possible the reason why Dal Shabet has done two comebacks for 2016 is to re-establish themselves. Though still popular among their fandom, Dal Shabet went through some troubles early in 2015 when their song “Joker” was banned. K-pop fans criticized the music video in which “Joker” was pronounced “Joh-Kuh” which translates to Korean, in kosher terms, “big penis.” Also the portrayal of a man and woman’s love affair in the music video did little to help. The controversy might be one of the reasons why Jiyul and Kaeun left.

Right now, Dal Shabet is concentrating on their upcoming comeback. Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Fri, Sat, Sun) releases on Thursday, September 29, at 12 a.m. KST. Right now, K-pop fans, especially Darlings, who want to support Dal Shabet can pre-order their upcoming mini-album at YesAsia.
