Adam Jones signs with the CFL

The saga of one Adam “Pacman” Jones took another interesting turn today as Jones signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football league. Too Many this move may not make a lot of sense but if we dig a little deeper we see that Jones is player, cut after the 2009 season by the Dallas Cowboys that needs to get back into game shape and prove to NFL teams that he can behave.

Jones signed a one year contract with the Blue Bombers and could be eligible to return to the NFL after the CFL season winds down in November. If Jones can go north, get in shape, and keep himself out of trouble he just may return to the NFL. The truth here is every NFL team could use a corner back of Jones’ talent. The only question that seems to remain is if there are any strip clubs in Winnipeg where Jones can get himself into more trouble?

Jones was the first round pick (6th overall) of the Tennessee Titans in the 2005 draft. Jones has virtually been in constant trouble ever since. After several off the field incidents the NFL finally suspended Jones for the entire 2007 season. By this point the titans had had enough and by the time he was reinstated the Titans had traded him to the Dallas Cowboys.

After a little more than a year of good behavior Jones was involved in an incident in a Dallas hotel with his bodyguard. The NFL suspended Jones for four games and the Cowboys had had enough and he was later cut. Now Jones will try to rebuild his image north of the border.
