Now a new report has revealed that Gomez is in rehab, and will remain there for over 60 days, with sources telling Radar Online that the singer, 24, entered the treatment facility at the beginning of September. Her goal is to cope with a crisis that is related to her emotional well-being and health, according to the insiders.
Selena is putting her focus on getting healthy, with the insiders emphasizing that she is determined to do what it takes to turn her life around. And for now, that allegedly means spending time in a treatment facility, shared one of the sources.
"The facility is a women's only facility in a secluded wooded area. She's staying for more than 60 days."
"[The rehab] is not a huge celebrity center or anything like that, and it's not somewhere where Selena has any ties," noted the source.
Despite previous reports that the singer was struggling with issues related to drugs, this insider emphasized that she is not undergoing treatment for problems related to drugs. Her main problems are linked to lupus and depression, according to the source.
Although neither the name nor location of the facility is known, the insider also revealed that it has a track that emphasizes Christianity.
"The rehab has a Christianity-based track, which might have been appealing given her religious background."
"They've significantly heightened security since she checked in," noted one of the insiders.
This new September 27 report linking the reason for her alleged stay in a rehab facility to depression follows Radar's September 2 story that Gomez was involved with drugs, claiming that the tragic murder of her close friend, Christina Grimmie "contributed to send her spiraling into drug abuse."
The initial report alleged that Selena had started to use "Lunesta, Ambien, Klonopin, and Xanax" prior to an intervention that resulted in her stay in rehab. However, the September 27 report appears to contradict the drug allegations.
