Duggar Family News: Could ‘Counting On’ Finally Be Canceled?

From the minute the first scandal broke, the Duggar family news has never been positive. And now, as the contemptuous Josh celebrates his anniversary with Anna, the latest Duggar family news suggests that the embattled family is doing all that it can to save their show Counting On from its inevitable cancellation.

According to Us Weekly, who tried to temper this bit of Duggar family news by sharing the first photo of Josh and Anna Duggar together since Josh’s scandal first broke (which felt nothing if not a little bit forced), one of the biggest reasons that Counting On could be canceled from TLC once and for all is that the ratings never fully recovered after Josh admitted to cheating on his wife and molesting his sisters when he was 14-years-old.

Even though Duggar family patriarch Jim Bob and his wife, Michelle, shared the bit of news that Josh had entered a “faith-based treatment center” to deal with this latest scandal, the American public frowns upon child molestation, no matter how popular the perpetrator is (or was), and as an end result, Counting On is experiencing low ratings.

And this latest bit of Duggar family news isn’t helped by People Magazine’s assertion that the couple is in marriage counseling, as though such disgusting accusations and problems can be forgiven by talking it out. People were infuriated as Anna released a statement saying that this sort of thing is just another bump in the road of an otherwise healthy marriage, a claim which sounds as ludicrous as it really is.

“It isn’t easy and some days are very difficult. It is a long road to rebuild trust and a truly healthy relationship. We are very thankful for God’s forgiveness, grace and help, as it is our strength and guide to rebuilding our lives. As the future unfolds, we are taking one day at a time and we are grateful for your continued prayers for both of us and our sweet children.”

Anna sounded more like a delusional wife who would do anything to save her marriage and less like a practical mother who should be concerned with the welfare of her children. And because it’s almost universally agreed that children should never be left around a predator, no matter how long ago the abuse happened, the fact that Anna could consider staying with her husband was shocking, and not in a good way.

And, according to the Hollywood Gossip, this latest bit of Duggar family news can only mean one thing for Counting On: cancellation. Remember that 19 Kids and Counting was a ratings goldmine for TLC until the Josh Duggar scandal exploded, when TLC, sensing danger on the horizon, immediately pulled the contentious show from the lineup.

Since the family’s return to the airwaves, however, it’s struggled with re-finding its audience (hence the dip in the ratings), and it’s also lost advertisers (and thus, money) by the thousands. (People don’t want to be associated with child molesters, no matter how Christian they claim to be. Apparently, this news was lost on the Duggar family.)

Like every other reality show family, the Duggars are now eschewing their old storylines in favor of ramping up their current family drama, to be played out on the small screen in a desperate bid for ratings. Needless to say, this tactic is falling short for the Duggar family, and it looks like Counting On will finally be canceled once and for all.
