New PS4, Xbox One & PC Games: ‘XCOM 2,’ ‘FIFA 17,’ ‘Forza Horizon 3’ & ‘Dead Rising 2’ All Set For Release Today

A number of new PS4, Xbox One and PC titles, specifically sequels of popular games, are slated for September 27 release. For instance, XCOM 2, Forza Horizon 3, Dead Rising 2, and FIFA 17 are officially hitting the shelves today.

Described by PlayStation Lifestyle as the Dark Souls of turn-based strategy game, XCOM 2 arrives today on PS4 and Xbox One consoles. It is the sequel to the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year that was developed by Firaxis Games.

Watch the Behind the Scenes trailer of XCOM 2 below, talking about the “20 years that have passed since XCOM: Enemy Unknown, how the aliens have evolved, and how the survivors have had to completely overhaul their survival strategies to continue on the planet,” PlayStation Lifestyle noted.

Dead Rising 2, the survival horror beat ’em up video game was launched initially for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2010. As part of the celebration of the video game franchise’s 10th anniversary, Capcom announced months ago that the last three Dead Rising titles, which include Dead Rising 2, are getting next-generation ports. September 13 saw the digital release of Dead Rising on Xbox One and PS4, as well as on PC. Meanwhile, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record were ported to Sony and Microsoft’s current consoles, Polygon explained.

And today, September 27, fans of the Capcom game can already get the PS4 and Xbox One ports of Dead Rising 2 in their favorite retail stores. The summary of the game reads below, as posted on PlayStation Blog.

“In the sequel to Dead Rising, players step into the shoes of Chuck Greene, professional motorcycle racer. Surrounded by a horde of hungry zombies in the spectacular casino town of Fortune City, Chuck finds himself in a race against time to find Zombrex, the one thing that can keep Katey, his young daughter, alive.”

Football lovers out there have a new FIFA video game title to enjoy. FIFA 17’s US release is slated for today, September 27 while it will be available to the rest of the world two days after. The game is not only coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC but it will also be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and Android. One of the new highlights of the game is The Journey, a story-based mode focusing on a young player named Alex Hunter entering the world of professional football.

“It’s built from a mix of gameplay, dialogue, and cutscenes, which depict Alex’s evolving relationships with his family and teammates and, ultimately, whether his talent is enough to kickstart a dream career,” GameSpot described.

Coming only to PC and Xbox One console is Forza Horizon 3, the open world racing video game developed by Playground Games. The game summary reads below, grabbed from the official website.

“You’re in charge of the Horizon Festival. Customize everything, hire and fire your friends, and explore Australia in over 350 of the world’s greatest cars. Make your Horizon the ultimate celebration of cars, music, and freedom of the open road. How you get there is up to you.”

Oli Welsh, editor of Eurogamer, in his review of the game, shared that “we need a racing game like this,” further claiming that Forza Horizon 3 is “quite simply, the best racing game around.” Playground Games “never forget what they came here to do: put you on the open road, amid beautiful scenery, and allow you to let rip behind the wheel of something gorgeous or growling, obscure, iconic or insane.”

Other new games set for release today, September 27, according to Metacritic, are Darkest Dungeon for the PS4, as well as PC titles Clustertruck, FIVE: Champions of Canaan, and Office Freakout.
