Miley Cyrus can hang out with her fellow pop stars but she chooses to hang out with rock stars instead. The 23-year-old seems to have a fondness for older rock stars, as seen in recent months. Miley has no desire to work in pop music as she rediscovers her next music era.
Miley Cyrus made a surprise appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Friday, Sept. 23 by performing with rock icon Billy Idol,60, as reported by the Huffington Post. She stepped out in a head-to-toe leather outfit to perform Idol’s 1983 hit song “Rebel Yell.” As Cyrus walked out on stage, she screamed to the crowd, “singing with Billy f***ing Idol, let’s do it!” The two went on to perform his song and to give the audience a jolt. Check out Cyrus’ performance with Idol in the video below.
The Voice judge then took to Instagram to exclaim her excitement about singing with Idol. In one of the photos, Cyrus is seen snarling alongside the musician. She even showed off her leather jacket, which featured Idol’s face on the back.
Billy also paid his respects for the former Disney star. He re-posted one of their photos together, writing, “I had a great time tonite on stage with @mileycyrus here with Miley post performance.”
Although Corey Feldman, 45, is not a rock star per se, he’s still attempting to be one. Earlier this month, the former 80s teen heartthrob took over the Today Show when he performed his new song “Go 4 It” with his band, Corey’s Angels. Feldman’s performance received a lot of negative buzz and backlash. Viewers took to all forms of social media to mock the actor with memes and animated GIFs.
Miley Cyrus is the latest celebrity to defend Feldman’s Today Show performance with an Instagram post dedicated to him on Thursday, Sept. 22, as reported by Us Weekly.
“Corey – I hope you see this … Haters gonna Hate! Lovers always gonna Love!” Cyrus captioned an Instagram post. “Thank you and your angels for sharing your music with us! Please enjoy life and continue to make art! You’re absolutely right to ignore (even though it can be hard) the hurtful comments made by uninspired people!!!! F*** judgment! You have more courage than any of those hating mother f***as!!!! Good luck to you and always dream big! I know that’s what always keeps me smiling.”
“We put ourselves out there and we did the best that we could,” the photo reads on Cyrus’ Instagram post. Will the two do a weird and strange performance together in the new future? Fans will have to wait and see.
As most fans know, Miley Cyrus is a good friend of Wayne Coyne, 55, the frontman for The Flaming Lips. Last month, the singer and her rumored fiancé Liam Hemsworth attended Luke Hemsworth’s wife’s birthday with a gold-themed party where things got a little weird, according to Hollywood Life. Coyne took to Instagram to document some of the moments from the bizarre bash, which included outlandish costumes, a gold horse statue, and butt paintings at 5:00 a.m. Some of the NSFW photos can be seen on Coyne’s Instagram account.
Some of the now-deleted photos even included Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s new couple name, referring to them as “Liley.” Cyrus’ fans expressed their disappointment in their new name, exclaiming that it’s not quite as catchy as “Miam,” as noted by Billboard.
At the party, Miley wore a gold jersey over a white T-shirt with a gold medal around her neck and gold sunglasses resting on her head. Liam jazzed it up with gold athletic shorts paired with a Gold Gym’s muscle tank and a bucket hat with a gold marijuana leaf.
Miley Cyrus and Wayne Coyne worked together on their collaborative album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. She previously collaborated with the musician on The Flaming Lip’s 2014 album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band tribute band, With a Little Help From My Fwends. Cyrus also made headlines when she appeared in the band’s strange video for “Blonde SuperFreak Steals the Magic Brain,” reports Rolling Stone.
