‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7 Spoilers: Scott Gimple Reveals More Details

The Walking Dead Season 7 has more revelations coming than just the victim of Negan. That is, of course, the big storyline that millions of people all across the nation will be tuning in for on October 23, to see the premiere episode on AMC. But there is one more storyline that fans of The Walking Dead seem to have overlooked.

Not only has the first trailer for Season 7 of The Walking Dead shown a major plot advancement for the show, the introduction of the Kingdom and Shiva comes with some earlier details that many have simply dismissed.

The storylines that featured Carol and Morgan on the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead showed them walking off with a friendly new clan that were trying to help them, in some way. Not to mention the fact that Morgan, who had fought relentlessly to teach Carol that her way is not the only way, finally had to shed his naïve view of the world and make a kill that he did not want to do.

The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple spoke with Entertainment Weekly about what fans should be looking at with the Season 7 premiere, trying to steer the conversation away from the cliffhanger. He gave some interesting insight into The Walking Dead Season 7.

“He [Morgan] wanted to save her [Carol’s] life and he wasn’t taking any chances,” Scott Gimple told Entertainment Weekly. “That character, Roman, was raising his gun. So Morgan was like, ‘This is it. There’s no way to stop him.’ The big thing with that as far as Carol’s side of it was that it wasn’t only that she didn’t want to kill, but she really wanted to get away from people and people that she’s close to, which is something we saw all the way back in episode 502.”

There seems to be a complete paradigm shift between Morgan and Carol, in regards to their philosophies moving forward on The Walking Dead Season 7. The teacher has now become the killer and Carol has become stunned to the point that she not only does not want to kill, but she is willing to leave all the people she loves just so that she doesn’t have to.

But in regards to Morgan, that is another situation altogether. Fans already know that eventually, in the world of The Walking Dead, everyone has to kill sooner or later. It is completely unavoidable in this dog-eat-dog world that they live in now, where power is up for grabs at every turn. The politics alone will force Morgan’s hand.

“Morgan was never certain, and now his going through the world without killing anyone, is that just wishful thinking at this point? That’s a big part of his story this season,” Scott Gimple said. “I will say obviously we’re not going to be seeing him wringing his hands and bemoaning this the whole time. In fact, what we saw, it’s more that he will see that he has no choice but to move away from the philosophy, but it’s not going to be easy for him.”

That will leave Morgan and Carol in the peaceful hands of the Kingdom, and Walking Dead fans are going to get their first taste of a new culture in this post-apocalyptic world that works, in its own way, of course.

“I’ll say that the Kingdom is a place that works and it’s a place that has a very different vibe because it works,” Scott Gimple said about Season 7 of The Walking Dead. “They’ve figured out how to feed themselves. They’ve figured out how to have a place that in many ways celebrates life. They get to be alive. They want to live. It isn’t merely about survival.”

Fans can get more precise details when The Walking Dead returns to AMC on October 23.
