Samsung Galaxy S8 Vs Galaxy S7: 2017 Smartphone’s Specs Include GPU Almost Two Times Better Than Current Flagship?

The new rumor about Samsung Galaxy S8 specs provided more details about its alleged chipset, which may be twice as much better than the Galaxy S7. And reportedly, the source of the latest leak was a Samsung LSI official.

Phone Arena’s post revealed that a senior Samsung official got arrested in South Korea and is currently being sued by executives for trying to sell confidential information to competitors about the process of 14nm and 10nm chip fabrication. Accordingly, the leaked report comes with information that the Seoul tech giant is going to use a 10nm Exynos SoC in Samsung Galaxy S8, expected to be released in 2016.

And based on Sam Mobile’s report about this rumored specs, the Samsung Galaxy S8 may have much powerful graphics power, perhaps, almost twice than the Galaxy S7’s performance. The rumored 2017 flagship may be specifically equipped with Exynos 8895 chipset with the new Mali-G71 GPU from ARM, which is “said to be up to 1.8 times as powerful as the Mali-T880 MP12 GPU used in the Exynos 8890-powered Galaxy S7,” the report explained. And looking at the GFXBench results, the Mali-G71 GPU to be used allegedly by Galaxy S8 shows faster performance compared to Snapdragon 830’s record.

Furthermore, the GPU in question reportedly uses the new Bifrost architecture from ARM, which centers mainly on high-end 4K and VR experiences. This further supported previous Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge specs grapevines that it will have a 4K display to provide a better VR experience to users.

Moreover, GSM Arena previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge may get an Ultra HD or UHD screen, which is “3,840 x 2,160px, compared to Oculus Rift’s 2,160 x 1,200px (combined, 1,080 x 1,200px per eye).” If this display specs rumor pans out, Samsung Galaxy S8 will definitely be able to provide a vibrant and vivid screen, making the smartphone a practical choice for VR applications. As for the screen size, rumored specs for Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge suggested it may be as big as 5.5 inches, ultimately improving the field of view.

Although there are reports pertaining to Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge, a recent Forbes report noted the possibility that the tech conglomerate will drop the “Edge” branding, following the company’s announcement of its plan to equip its high-end devices with a dual-curved screen. It’s likely that the ‘Edge’ branding will not be used on the Galaxy S8 because both the larger and smaller handset designs will have a curve down the two longer edges of the screen,” Forbes explained.

As for the camera specs, the Samsung Galaxy S8 may be packed with a dual-lens camera, expected to be one of the smartphone’s major features.

In addition to specs news, speculations about the Samsung Galaxy S8 release are also circulating online. And they are in harmony saying that the smartphone maker may launch their 2017 Galaxy model earlier than planned, especially with all the controversies received by the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note 7 due to its battery fiasco.

Ewan Spence, a contributor for Forbes, initially guessed that Samsung Galaxy S8’s release date could fall on February 26 next year, based on the launch schedule of Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. However, with Samsung’s brand being negatively affected by the Note 7 battery issues that led to a massive and worldwide recall, announcing their “next big thing” as early as possible could help them bounce back. Spence shared the following.

“The quicker that the Galaxy S8 can reach the market the better. With a need to get a new flagship to market as quickly as possible, a desire to bolster the sales figures in the first calendar quarter of 2017 and the constant challenge of trying to stay ahead of the opposition (both Android- and iOS-powered), I think Koh will take the gamble, cut out some slack in the schedule, and bring the Galaxy S8 launch date forward.”
