Miley Cyrus Agrees With Critics Who Call Her ‘Crazy,’ Performs With Billy Idol

Miley Cyrus actually likes being “crazy,” so it doesn’t bother her when critics use the word to describe her behavior and her unique style choices. As it turns out, there are also some perks to being a wild child; you might earn the respect of beloved musicians who have reached legendary status for daring to be different. Miley Cyrus can now boast that she’s rocked the stage with Joan Jett and Billy Idol, so why would she listen to critics who think that she’s needs to tone it down when she’s being so richly rewarded for being herself?

During a recent interview with Stuff, Miley Cyrus was asked whether it bothers her when people call her “crazy.” The former Hannah Montana star answered in the negative, and she explained that she simply feels more comfortable in her own skin when she’s acting goofy. Miley agrees with those who call her crazy, but she also thinks that people can’t accurately describe who she is and what she’s about by using one single label to do so.

“I am crazy, I agree. The way that I feel confident is actually less focused on being pretty and more focused on being funny, which also makes me feel good,” Miley said. “I feel like I am never really defined so you can’t label me by saying I am confident or insecure or crazy or any of those things.”

Miley Cyrus admits that she feels insecure sometimes, but she’s discovered an effective method for giving her self-confidence a boost. According to the “Wrecking Ball” singer, putting on an outlandish outfit always puts a smile on her face.

“Some days I feel prettier than others and some days I feel insecure but then I put on a crazy outfit and feel much better,” Miley revealed.

Miley may agree that “crazy” is one of the many adjectives that can be used to describe her, but she points out that what people are seeing is just an act.

“I’m actually much better at acting crazy than being crazy.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Miley Cyrus’ “crazy” behavior was a major turnoff for many fans of The Voice. After viewers learned that she was going to be joining the show as a coach, they flooded The Voice Facebook page with complaints and threatened to boycott the NBC singing competition as long as Miley remains on it. However, after actually seeing Miley in action, many fans have warmed up to her and admitted that they were wrong to judge her so harshly. They’ve discovered that Miley is actually a kind, caring person with a positive personality, and she knows her stuff when it comes to music.

Miley’s preferred musical genres may be pop, hip hop, and R&B, but she also has a connection to the country music world. She’s the daughter of “Achy Breaky Heart” singer Billy Ray Cyrus, and country music legend Dolly Parton is her godmother. As Nylon reports, Miley has also proved that she can really rock out. Back in May, she and Joan Jett performed a duet of the song “Different” in Miley’s backyard, and Friday night Miley joined punk rocker Billy Idol onstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. The pair treated the crowd to a surprise duet of Billy Idol’s 1983 tune “Rebel Yell.”

Miley dressed for the occasion by rocking a pair of black leather pants emblazoned with Billy Idol’s name, and she also wore a black, belly-baring T-shirt bearing Idol’s likeness. She completed her punk rock look with a pair of black combat boots, Billy Idol sunglasses, and a black leather jacket that also bore Idol’s image on the back. During a 2014 Rolling Stone interview, Billy Idol also embraced being called “crazy.” At least Miley Cyrus is in good company.
