It came as a huge shock for everyone except Brad Pitt. Brad already knew that his wife of two years, Angelina Jolie, was ready to call it quits, and when Jolie served him with divorce papers he wasn’t surprised.

According to Hollywood Life,“Brad wasn’t completely blindsided” the way everyone else was. Pitt new the split was coming and had been expecting it for some time, although he had no idea it would be this bad.

“He knew things were bad for a while but he didn’t think it was going to come down like this.”

The question fans are still asking themselves is, when did the unbelievable change happen? When did everyone’s favorite super parents and fairy tale happily-ever-after-couple stop being so much in love?

The Brangelina divorce news couldn’t have been more shocking if the headlines screamed about a Kate Middleton and Prince William divorce. (If you hear that Kate and William are splitting, we don’t want to know.)

A Brad and Angelina insider says things have been bad for awhile, despite the PDA and togetherness the Jolie-Pitts kept displaying for the cameras. After all, they are experienced actors who know all about faking it for an audience, and putting on a show is second nature for both of them.

“In hindsight he can see how Angelina was pushing him away for a long time. It’s painful for him to admit but he thinks she fell out of love with him around a year ago.”

Angelina fell out of love with Brad a year ago? That doesn’t even seem possible.

Time reports that the couple had recently decided to sell their New Orleans house in May 2015. They even dropped the price by “nearly $1 million” in their eagerness to get rid of it, but when the house didn’t sell, they took it off the market.

For anyone noticing the tiny cracks in the facade of Pitt and Jolie’s love life, that decision might have seemed like there was still hope for Brangelina, but it turns out that street construction was the unromantic reason to keep the house pre-divorce.

Now hindsight is working overtime to make sure we all see how important the attempt to sell the house was in the disintegrating Jolie-Pitt marriage. Getting rid of a place where you used to be happy is a classic step when you fall out of love. Was Angelina’s love for Brad Pitt dead already?

Breakaway made a point about some of the signs we all may have missed along the way. Not long after Brad and Angelina got hitched in a secret marriage ceremony at their chateau in France, they produced and starred in a movie that Jolie wrote.

By the Sea wasn’t the greatest movie ever made according to the critics, but winning the Oscars may have been the furthest thing from Angelina’s mind when she wrote the script.

The movie was all about a “disintegrating marriage,” and the two newly weds actually filmed it during their honeymoon. If that doesn’t sound like a “desperate call for help,” we don’t know what does.

“Brad and Angelina sent out a giant SOS with this movie, and no one sent them out a life-raft.”

Publicly, Jolie said all the right things, and it totally looked as if Brangelina would be the love story of the century, but now that the divorce is happening, Angie’s apparent enthusiasm could have a whole different meaning.

“Sharing something in a deep artistic way, it’s something I think is necessary for artistic couples. I hadn’t realized how good it would be for us.”

We all thought that statement was just another indication of how incredibly close and loving Brad and Angelina were as a couple. But the actress could have been talking about how good it was for her as she worked through her need to get out of the marriage to Pitt.

Recently, there was a huge sign that Pitt and Jolie weren’t going to make it, but as usual, no one paid attention.

When the New York Times did a profile of Pitt only a couple of weeks before Jolie served the divorce papers, there was nothing about Angelina or the couple’s relationship. The interviewer “pointedly avoids discussing Pitt’s marriage or family life.”

Now we all have to wonder, what other loving superstar couple is falling apart right in front of us without anyone noticing? We really hope it’s not Duchess Kate and Prince William.
