WWE News: Triple H Pushing To Sign TNA Star Matt Hardy When TNA Deal Expires In 2017

WWE has been known for creating stars, but it has been uncommon for their talent to leave and keep the same stardom they had when they were with WWE. It is also highly unlikely a star will end up being bigger than they were with the WWE. However, this is not impossible and can happen. TNA Wrestling has managed to do this a couple times now with people who spent very little time in the WWE before they ended up in TNA such as Gail Kim, Matt Morgan, and Ethan Carter III.

All three were with the WWE for a little while, but never truly left the mid-card scene at best. Only Kim won a title among the trio above. However, one man has basically reinvented himself since leaving the WWE and that is Matt Hardy. He would leave WWE seemingly on bad terms as he literally tried to get fired. WWE would not release him it seems, so he did all he could to get his walking papers. He left so he could join brother Jeff Hardy in TNA of course.

He actually was in a bad place upon arrival and was involved with substance issues. Thankfully he got better and not only found love once more in Reby Sky, but also had a son named Maxel who we’ve seen a number of times now on TNA television. Seeing his career start to go downhill, Hardy would go on to develop himself more as a rich guy heel in Ring of Honor and then most notably would turn into the crazy man who happens to be three thousand years old, but from the future in TNA.

Originally seen as a completely idiotic gimmick, the #broken Matt Hardy character ended up getting interesting after a bit. Eventually it became hilariously popular and actually managed to get a ton of attention around the world, pretty much making us forget about what Matt ever did in WWE for a while. While the normal Impact Wrestling broadcast on POP TV gets anywhere between 300,000 to 400,000 viewers, the Delete or Decay and Final Deletion matches have managed to grab millions of views on YouTube.

Basically Matt Hardy is literally multiple times better than the place he works. This has not gone unnoticed either. According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE Executive in charge of Talent Relations Triple H wants to hire Matt Hardy when his deal with TNA ends in early 2017. There was already said to be interest in signing Matt’s brother Jeff Hardy, but no one knew if Matt would come in with him or not.

The idea is that his character managed to get so over that WWE felt he would do well with it in WWE. Matt Hardy does have creative control of his character in TNA and does insanely well on the independent scene. On top of this, he makes his own schedule which is always pleasing to do as a veteran in the business. That said, WWE would have to come with a good offer for Matt to want to leave where he is now.

Clearly WWE would be able to outbid TNA to keep Hardy, so money is not really the problem. The schedule may be the toughest thing. On top of this, TNA owns the broken Matt Hardy gimmick, so he could not use the exact same stuff in the WWE. He may have the ability to keep some intellectual property, but the name and merchandise material with it will be owned by TNA. Matt Hardy is obviously Matt’s real name, so he cannot have that removed. Also “deleting” something is most likely seen as things that are done all over the world. So TNA may not be able to claim it either.

A lot has to be looked into for Matt Hardy and his jump to the WWE. WWE reportedly has sent out feelers (he knew they would come), and he and the company have been in talks. That being said, Hardy and WWE are certainly going to discuss a move. The real worry is that WWE won’t let him have as much control as he would like over his character and obviously the character itself is a concern, as we do not know what all can come with him from TNA.
