iPhone 8 Concept Design Looks More Galaxy Than Ever
Steve Jobs announced the first iPhone on January 9, 2007.
Although today, September 22, marks the first official day of fall, and the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, Apple’s twelfth iteration iPhones, were launched on September 16, many people are already looking toward the future of Apple. And it seems Apple may have something brewing.
To reiterate, the very first iPhone debuted on January 9, 2007, at the Macworld Conference & Expo in the Moscone West in San Francisco, the Cupertino-based company’s backyard. This exalted announcement will be exactly 10 years ago on January 9, 2017. To take it a step further, the first iPhone, although announced earlier in the year, wasn’t released until June 29, 2007, a whole five and a half months after the initial announcement. Again, this coveted release will be exactly ten years ago on June 29, 2017.
To be in line with Apple’s track record, they have a history of announcing (and releasing) new iPhones in the second quarter of the year. While this is usually true,—take the launch of the iPhone 4, which was announced on June 7, 2010, then released on June 24, 2010, Apple likes to surprise the masses with extemporaneous events throughout the year. (Apple is rumored to have a MacBook event sometime next month.)
Given this information, it would make sense for Apple to do something surprising for the ten year anniversary of the iPhone. And that seems to be the case if the iPhone 8 concept designs are to be believed. Veniamin Geskin, a 3D artist, drew up some iPhone 8 designs, and they are beautiful.

There are plenty of iPhone 8 rumors circulating the Internet. It supposed to have the following details.
- A curved AMOLED display
- A 5.8-inch screen (A little bigger than the current iPhone Plus models)
- No home button or bezels (The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus already don’t have physically moving home buttons)
- A curved glass back
- Still just a single lens on the standard iPhone 8
- OIS for both lenses in the iPhone 8 Plus
- Wireless charging
- An iris scanner
- A Smart Connector (Which is on the iPad Pro, so it could easily make its way to the next iPhone)
- New security features
The list goes on. (No, I’m not describing the Samsung Galaxy S7, though I can see why you’d think that.) The designs Veniamin Geskin—@VenyaGeskin1 on Twitter—drew up are enticing. Yes, the concept is not real, of course, but the designs look cohesive and believable, something Apple themselves would put together. Interestingly, Geskin’s concept hits a lot of the existing rumors; perhaps because he was using them as a guide. This design features an AMOLED display, no home button or bezels (aside from the top and bottom panels), and a Smart connector on the bottom of the device. This is one beautiful looking iPhone, and it comes in a sweet new color, Ceramic White. (Designed, again, by Geskin.) You can go ahead and add that to the list of colors I’m envious of.
Apple is rumored to unveil a new iPhone in 2017 for their iPhone’s 10-year anniversary. If that is the case, these renders by Veniamin are nigh perfect. With a few of Apple’s signature tweaks, touches, and refinements, and Jony Ive’s iconic voiceover, the new iPhone 8 could honestly be one of the best designed iPhone’s to date. Apple will be playing catch-up for quite a while considering a lot of the rumored iPhone 8 technology has existed on Android devices for a few years, but Apple’s brand is about perfection. Since this technology has been around for a while, not only does it give Apple ample time to fiddle around with and perfect the right tech for their next iPhone, it also gives them the chance to introduce the way the tech should be implemented. We’ll see when January 2017 comes.
