‘Mass Effect 3’ Getting Free Multiplayer DLC Next Week

Mass Effect 3 fans looking for some extra multiplayer content will be getting their wish next week as BioWare announced that the “Retaliation” pack will be hitting all three platforms on October 9 for the low price of nothing.

The Retaliation DLC sees the return of The Collectors as new baddies for players to fight in Mass Effect 3‘s mutliplayer mode. The units you can expect to face are the Collector Praetorian, Collector Scion, Collector Abomination, Collector Trooper, and finally the Collector Captain.

As you blast away at the Collectors, you’ll be able to unlock Collector weapons and upgrades to go along with them. Also available in the Mass Effect 3‘s latest DLC are new unlockable kits such as the Turian Havoc Soldier and Turian Ghost Infiltrator. BioWare says that even more will be added down the line.

No new maps are being introduced with Retaliation, but BioWare is adding something interesting to spruce up existing maps. New variations of existing maps while have “hazards” such as lightning storms, sandstorms, swarms, and whiteouts.

Additionally, Retaliation will also add in a new challenge feature to Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer mode. Here’s what BioWare had to say about that:

“Think you are the best soldier in the Alliance? Make sure to track your progress in the new “Challenges” database. Complete various multiplayer assignments and feats of strength to unlock titles and banners to display in-game, and then compare your progress against your friend.

“The “Challenges” database tracks various in-game statistics, such as your N7 Typhoon usage. To earn challenge points, you’ll need to complete mini-goals. For example, accumulate 140,000 points while using the Typhoon in multiplayer and you’ll be rewarded with 10 challenge points.”
