Police: Florida Woman Scalded Baby And Boyfriend As They Slept

A Florida woman has been arrested after she reportedly dowsed her sleeping baby and boyfriend with boiling water as they slept. The Dreamin’ Demon reports that 22-year-old Yva Monord has been charged with a variety of crimes in association with the violent incident.

News 4 JAX reports that Yva Monord has admitted to police that she intentionally tossed a pot of boiling water over her boyfriend and 2-month-old son as the two slept in bed. However, she claims that she was unaware that the small infant was in bed with the 23-year-old man, with whom she was angry.

The Florida woman told authorities that her boyfriend, Winsky Perpignan, had some “infidelity issues,” which angered her. While he was sleeping, she used a pot of water that was boiled for sterilizing bottles and pacifiers and dumped it over him while he was under the covers. She told police initially that she didn’t intentionally commit the act, but did eventually change her story as she admitted to pouring the boiling water on the duo.

Her boyfriend, Perpignan, suffered from severe burns on multiple parts of his body. His torso, stomach, back, right arm, and face were affected by the boiling water that was tossed on him as he slept. Unfortunately, the Florida woman’s 2-month-old son suffered from more severe injuries, which included second-degree burns to his chest and left arm. Doctors have said that the infant may require skin grafting to fully recover from the shocking incident.

Authorities in Gainesville say that they were alerted to the incident when the Department of Children and Families contacted them. The incident, which took place sometime this month, has ended in both a 23-year-old man and a 2-month-old infant in need of hospitalization.

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time a woman has been accused of pouring boiling liquid on a loved one during — or after — a dispute. In fact, this isn’t even the first time such an incident has happened in the state of Florida. In August, a Florida woman named Misty Childs was arrested after police say she poured boiling soup on her sleeping boyfriend. The incident reportedly left 45-year-old Lavont Moss with such severe injuries that he ended up in critical condition in the hospital. He did, however, survive.

Earlier this year, a North Carolina woman was arrested after she allegedly killed her own mother in a truly horrifying manner. Police in Greenville say that 20-year-old Milina Tapo Harris poured boiling water on her mother as she slept. She is also accused of stabbing the woman. The 47-year-old woman was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. Ultimately, the young woman accused of killing her mother was charged with first-degree murder.

In 2009, a Queens woman named Oyinda Ojofeitimi reacted brashly when she discovered that her husband had been cheating on her. Police say that she poured boiling water on the man’s crotch as he slept. She was booked on assault charges, and did express regret for what she had done while in the heat of an angry moment.

As for this latest case, Florida woman Yva Monord is fortunate that nobody died from her admitted actions. However, her child has been removed from her care, and placed into the custody of the Department of Children and Families. She has also been charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated battery. She is currently being held on bond in the amount of $50,000 in the Alachua County Jail. If she is convicted of these two charges, the Florida woman could find herself behind the walls of a prison. However, it should be noted that she doesn’t have much of a criminal record, with no violent history.
