Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt Clash Over Kids: Does That Include Shiloh’s ‘Gender Identity’ Quest?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt shocked everyone with the news of their divorce. But, as the reasons for their split emerge, the reports increasingly point to a clash over their six kids, with Angelina and Brad disagreeing over the best way to raise their youngsters.

While Brad admitted that he was strict, Angelina contended that a more lenient approach works better, according to E News.

“Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest of taking care of her children,” emphasized her manager, Geyer Kosinski.

However, sources cited by E revealed that Jolie felt upset by the way that her estranged husband parented. Pitt was candid in describing his tougher methods, especially when it came to their sons.

“I am [the disciplinarian] with the boys. Girls do no wrong, so I don’t have to be.”

Brad also explained that he has certain guidelines he follows, including what to do when his youngsters misbehave.

“I feel like my job is to show ’em around, help them find what they want to do with their life, put as many things in front of them, and pull them back when they get out of line, so they know who they are,” clarified the actor.

In particular, the difference in their parenting styles has emerged since the birth of the twins, revealed Angelina.

“I used to be the tougher parent but since the birth of the twins, Brad’s had to play bad cop more often,” confessed Jolie. “It also depends on which of the children we’re talking about…I think I’m a little closer to the girls, maybe, but he’s always making them laugh.”

One clue that their conflicting parenting styles are to blame for the split is that Angelina requested physical custody of the children, according to Wonderwall.

She is seeking an arrangement that provides Brad only with visitation rights rather than joint physical custody for all six children: Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

When it comes to how they have disagreed on how to raise their kids, does that include Shiloh, who reportedly has questioned her gender identity?

An insider told OK that both parents have supported Shiloh’s desire to “identify as a boy,” which includes a closet filled with clothing designed for boys. The 10-year-old reportedly does not own any girls’ attire, but she prefers to take clothes from her brothers’ wardrobes.

“Shiloh’s so funny about her wardrobe and she couldn’t be more different from her sisters,” commented the source. “She only wears boys’ clothes and is always stealing T-shirts from Pax’s wardrobe.”

Both parents also let Shiloh cut her hair short, and in a previous interview in 2010, they revealed that Shiloh “wants to be a boy,” with Jolie revealing that her daughter views herself as another brother.

“We had to cut her hair,” noted Angelina. “She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.”

In terms of any difference in parenting styles, the source revealed that both Jolie and Pitt are “being extremely responsible about her tomboy ways.” Prior to the divorce announcement, they were described by the insider as “committed to giving Shiloh a loving family environment.”

The couple has sought advice from experts but had decided to avoid “addressing her gender” until she is old enough for high school, according to the insider.

“Angie and Brad are getting advice from all kinds of experts on how to handle it carefully and not damage their child.”

However, the source noted that they were concerned about the potential that Shiloh could be bullied, but the 10-year-old is reportedly strong.

“They are worried she might get bullied, but she’s a tough little nut who totally knows her own mind,” added the insider. “She’s a very impressive young person with a killer brain on her shoulders.”

Once the divorce goes through, however, will one parent determine how to handle Shiloh’s gender identity quest, or will they work together on it?

Prepare for a showdown, according to the Daily Beast.

Although Jolie took the lead with claims of marijuana, alcohol, and anger issues, Pitt is reportedly determined to fight back. Angelina is described as determined to get sole physical custody of the six kids, with Brad equally ready to take on his estranged wife over the kids.

Pitt allegedly wants joint physical custody of the youngsters rather than give in and agree that he will just have limited visitation rights, and the Daily Beast cites sources who revealed that “no chance” exists that Brad will just give in.
