Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, better known as Bill and Ted, have been fighting darkness and conspiracy to save Bill and Ted 3. Reeves explained to MTV News back in 2013, that dark forces and shadowy figures seemed to be plotting against them as they attempted to make Bill and Ted a trilogy, but they were not about to give up.
“There is [a script]. There’s all sorts of stuff and it just can’t — it’s just — there’s darkness out there that’s keeping it from happening… It’s that part of the story where it’s looking grim. It’s the dark period of the idea!”
Is Bill and Ted 3 finally on set because Keanu Reeves has the darkness fought back enough to announce that it is definitely happening? The movie has been six years in the making, and about two decades overdue, but now there are plans in place to film in the UK.
“God Gave Rock and Roll to You” and he is not taking it back, but that doesn’t mean people don’t have to work, struggle and fight for what they achieve it comes to music, movies, and life. That is at least part of the message Bill and Ted 3 is going to deliver.
The song, “God Gave Rock and Roll to You,” originally written in 1973, is even more perennial than Bill and Ted. Recorded first by Argent in 1973, then by Petra in 1977, with some lyrics changed, then again by KISS in 1991, who again revamped the lyrics, the song’s history spans decades. By now it has a sort of magical feel that brings a tear to the eye, but then it probably always did.
Bill and Ted 3 with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter is finally happening, but three years ago, things were not so promising. Keanu expressed real concerns to MTV News in 2013.
“It’s a long story. There’s lots of subterfuge and conspiracy theories. There’s a whole thing… I might have to do one of those independent press, conspiracy, other-name kind of [statements] explaining why it hasn’t happened yet because it’s pretty dark out there.”
Despite Keanu Reeves dire feelings of foreboding about the fate of Bill and Ted 3, Alex Winter denied claims that there was any covert problem, such as legal difficulties or blatant sabotage of the film. Still, it certainly has taken a long time to get this sequel. Fans have waited 25 years. The stars are in their 50s now.
“God Gave Rock and Roll to You” but fans have waited a long time for Bill and Ted 3. Perhaps now that darkness Keanu Reeves spoke of will lift and the spirit of a more light-hearted time will return.
Alex Winter told MTV News years ago it was only a matter of time before Bill and Ted 3 would finally happen.
“There’s no drama. There’s no legal skirmish. There’s no nothing. There’s me, Keanu, [screenwriters] Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the original core. We built a story. They wrote a script. We’re tinkering with the script to get it perfect. Then we will go get the money. Then we will shoot it. And that’s really all there is to it.”
Keanu Reeves has Bill and Ted 3 safely in hand now. Alex Winter revealed recently to Express UK that the filming will soon begin.
“We’ll be shooting it shortly… People always ask if Keanu’s doing it and I’m like, ‘No, I’m making a Bill movie.’ Of course, he’s in it. I can’t make a Bill and Ted movie without Keanu.”
Bill and Ted 3 with Keanu Reeves is finally taking real form according to Alex Winter.
“We’ve been working on it for, like, six years. We’re knee-deep in the script. It’s been written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon who wrote the first two, they are fantastic writers, and the script is great. We have a script, we have a director, we have a studio — we’re just trying to nail down a start date.”
According to Keanu Reeves, the Bill and Ted 3 plot will center around a future that might not happen the way they hoped and been led to believe it would, so that is certainly timely. Bill and Ted can’t come up with that song that changes the world, and so the future is being negatively impacted, according to Huffington Post. Even their own lives are being impacted as their family and even their friendship is falling apart in the vacuum created by the song that somehow never was. They absolutely have to come up with this song in order to save the world, their lives, and Rock and Roll.
“‘Where is the song?’ The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock.”
“God Gave Rock and Roll to You”? Is that the song? Come on Bill and Ted — the guys heard that in the last movie. Of course, that is just a guess, mostly because that song defines Bill and Ted 2, AKA Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, which was a comedic yet spiritual sort of plot. No one yet knows what the song that sets the world right again will be. That’s true in real life as well as the movies, as musicians all over the world look for a way to change the world with a song.
Bill and Ted 3 is finally being made, though, so it is great to see at least that light at the end of the tunnel. As for the darkness? What did Keanu Reeves mean by that phrasing?
RELATED REPORTS FROM THE INQUISITR
Keanu Reeves, though being very cryptic, and perhaps just kidding around, could have meant the world is in a far darker place in general than in 1989 when the original Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure first introduced the two unlikely heroes who were destined to change the world. The sequel, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, also fell on a joyously rock-and-roll-loving audience who may have even teared up a bit despite the comedy during that 1991 theme song.
Will “God Gave Rock and Roll to You” be featured again in Bill and Ted 3? One can only hope. Perhaps it will drive away the darkness that plagued the film, and the 25 years the world has waited for Bill and Ted 3. The film’s actual release could be considered nothing short of miraculous after all this time.
