WWE Rumors: Goldberg Talks About Appearing At ‘Clash Of Champions’

Before SummerSlam, the biggest WWE rumors surrounded Goldberg, who was in town working with the promotion of WWE 2K17 during the event. Many people thought that Goldberg would make an appearance and fans even chanted his name after Brock Lesnar bloodied Randy Orton. Goldberg never showed up.

Now, thanks to an interview on Submission Radio, Goldberg is leading the WWE rumors again, this time heading into Clash of Champions on Sunday. The reason for the new WWE rumors comes from the fact that Goldberg will once again be in the same town as the WWE pay-per-view.

Goldberg has also made some interesting comments, especially when he answered the WWE 2K17 commercial where Brock Lesnar said that Goldberg was next, playing off Goldberg’s former catchphrase. Goldberg, on numerous occasions, said that Brock Lesnar knows where he is. He did so again in the Submission Radio interview.

“Brock knows where the gym is, Brock knows where I live, and I’m not contractually bound to any deal with the WWE. So I have no business being around anything they’re doing right now and it’s purely by coincidence. But hey, I could get a phone call between now and then. You never know.”

There are some interesting and fun clues concerning the Goldberg appearance in Indianapolis. Eventbrite has listed the event as an event at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis, where Goldberg will take part in the Eric Bischoff Live on Wrestling podcast in front of a live audience.

Here is where the conspiracy theorists will connect Goldberg to the WWE pay-per-view event. Clash of Champions is a classic NWA/WCW event name. WCW used to have the Clash of Champions as a free televised event to compete with certain WWE events in the past, and some of WCW’s greatest matches took place at the Clash of Champions events.

It may just be a coincidence that Bill Goldberg, one of WCW’s most popular stars, will be in Indianapolis talking to former WCW head Eric Bischoff on the same day as the WWE Network show that takes its name from a former WCW event Clash of Champions. The Goldberg appearance takes place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Clash of Champions takes place at 7 p.m., giving Goldberg plenty of time to get to the arena.

“I’m a 49-year-old has-been over here that just so happens to be in their new videogame, and it’s an honor for me to do it. It’s an honor for me to take place in it and hey, I have no issues with them anymore. Like I said, to be able to do anything with them at this point it is a true testament to my ability to deliver for my son. So that’s it.”

That all sounds like plausible deniability from Bill Goldberg. He said that he has no contractual obligations to the WWE and his appearance in the last two cities that the WWE Raw brand events have taken place in. However, he never once said that he is not going to be there or that there aren’t plans for it.

That will keep the WWE rumors going heading into Clash of Champions on Sunday. However, one thing that fans have to keep in mind is that Brock Lesnar is not scheduled to be at the WWE Network event. That won’t stop fans from speculating on these WWE rumors and expect many to chant Goldberg on Sunday night during Clash of Champions.
